I was thinking of adding a corset to my dress. Currently, my dress zips in the back with covered buttons. If I want to add a corset how would that work?
Would I just add it underneath my dress and zip up over it, OR, would I have to completely change the back of my dress to tie up instead of zip up?
Also, if anyone has added a corset, how much did it cost you?

You can probably do this either way. Are you wanting the corset for the effect it has on your figure, or for the look of a lace-up back? That will determine how you’d incorporate the corset. It’ll likely be cheaper to add it underneath the dress, but again, it’s about what look you’re going for. 🙂
My dress had a corset back and I loved it because it made the dress fit me like a glove without alterations. However, I know not everyone likes that style, so it’s really up to you!

If you bought the dress and have it in your posession already, adding a corset underneath the dress would probably be cheapest, fastest and easiest. If you’re ordering your dress, many designers will swap out zip for a corset dress (Such was the case with my own.)

Here is the back of my dress. I would really like the corset for support and shape. Do you have any idea as to how much a corset under the dress vs adding a lace up would cost?

I’m considering getting a corset back too because I bought a dress that’s a tad too small 🙂 The seamstress I talked to said it would cost around $250 to take out the zipper and put in the lace-up back, and I think she’s on the reasonable side. This is in NYC, by the way.
Are you just looking for a corset back though? It will be more if you decide to get the bones stitched in too.
