I had yet ANOTHER horrible nightmare… the day of my wedding my dress wouldn’t zip up… This is the 3rd time I’ve had this same dream and I had a similar dream that I couldn’t keep the dress up… I’m starting to think it’d be worth it to get it made into a corset back… it already needs like 5 different alterations, what’s one more? I just don’t know if it can be done or if it will even look right… I can’t take the stress anymore and my weddings a year away! My weight changes all the time terribly with stress and PMS and I don’t want my nightmare to become a reality on my wedding day… advice anyone?

I am literally in the exact same situation you are! Except I haven’t been dreaming about it…yet. I got a zipper on mine. I also have 10 lb weight fluctuations pretty regularly..which is a TON. With it being a year away, all I am really doing is starting to eat better and exercise a little more. I don’t think you should be worrying about it at all now!.. If you want the zipper I would keep it.

I didn’t want a zipper… but the dress I loved had a zipper so I bought it before thinking it through… my nightmares thought it through for me however and now I’m soooo scared =( I wanted a corset to begin with =( I’m starting to think I made a mistake.

Could you post pictures of your dress in this thread so we can get an idea of what it looks like and what a corset might do to it?

I have a zipper in mine but also buttons that hook. It is a little tight right now but I’m getting straps/capsleeves so I might ask for it to be let out a little. I just don’t want that pulled zipper look. Dresses can easily be taken in a little or let out in a short amount of time so don’t freak out! My sister had a corset back for her wedding that had to be tightened later in the day. If your dress fits well with a zipper then you won’t have to worry about tightening it later in the day!

I don’t have any pictures of the back but it’s beaded exactly like the front and straight across…
It already needs a lot of alterations like I said… any advice?

no matter what dress I get, it will have a corset back. for sure. Fortunately the dresses I like, are corset backs, but if i have to alter it, then hats what I will do.

I think it would look great with a corset back, and then you wouldn’t have to worry

the dress i have had replicated, the original had a zip and buttons, but i requested they change the back to a corsett.
wether its a zip/buttons or a corsett i still will need help to get it done up, but i thought about weight fluctuations, and thought a corsett gives a little wiggle room and can be tightened/loosened either way.
happily ever after……your dress would look stunning with a corsett back. some dresses would not look right, but yours would work really nicely.

@anne B: THANK YOU SO MUCH that’s really good to hear I’m scared they’re going to tell me I’m crazy to alter the dress so much by adding a corset back but I don’t want to have a wedding day disaster… I dread to see the cost however I’d need the sides taken in slightly anyway and that was going to be expensive as ever because they were going to remove beads and then sew them back on to make it ‘match up’ so maybe it’ll come close to the same cost… I can dream. The top needs so much work as it is I guess I should just not worry about alterations until the time comes… I think a corset is my best bet!

I have always wanted a corset back. When I finally tried on dresses it made me even more sure of that fact. I have a larger ribcage and my ribs stick out quite a bit on the bottom, I found when I wore a zipper dress it gave me no “play” no room to move, or hardly breathe. I like having the option to loosen it if need be.
I think your dress would look fabulous with a corset back. If that’s what you really want.
Also, I didn’t read any of your PPs so sorry if I’ve repeated anything!

@Mrs.tobe: Yeah your right, even though it needs taken in slightly already (and I plan on losing weight too) It’s very hard to breathe in this dress lol.

I love the look of a zipper but I chose a corset back because of that problem. I have heard of a happy medium.
There is a style called inner corset with a zipper overlay. Its something to consider. It helps to suck everything in and then you just zip up over the corset. The one thing I am unsuer about it the flexibility. I have never tried this version on but I saw it as an option while I looked through dresses.
