@Paguilar84:  My fiance and I are getting married next year in Mexico and I haven’t chosen a planner but we’ve been quoted by three so far and all of them have been a flat fee of $1500-2000.  Each of them based their pricing on how many people are attending the wedding (those quotes are for about 40 people).

Also, those prices are for full on planning :).

My coordinator charges up to $10K, for doing everything,  and the highest I saw for full-on in the bay area was 15K. I checked out a lot of planners who all had customizable packages, and our coordinator is basically doing everything but making artistic decisions and charging $7500.

I’m not in Mexico, but the pricing in my Destination Wedding locale is somewhat similar. I’m paying $1500 for Day-of services. From the company’s website:

Perfect for the DIY bride, you plan the details and we meet with you approximately one month prior to take over the wedding file. Our service includes recommendation of vendors, and providing advice and feedback during your planning process. After the details are handed over, we reconfirm with all your vendors, prepare a Wedding running order and oversee the rehearsal, ceremony and reception

They have an upgraded package for “Wedding Weekend” services, but for the additional cost, they weren’t offering any additional services that I actually valued or didn’t prefer to do myself (such as assembling welcome bags)

I paid roughly $650 for styling/day of coordinaton services. However, I rented a ton of tables, furniture, other rentals through her and she did all my florals.

@Paguilar84:  Ours is charging us pretty much your exact amount that you were quoted.

What is the scope of your coordinator’s services ( day-of,  wedding consulting, full on planning services, something in between?) she does something in between. she starts talking to couples and suggesting vendors before a year out if the couple wants that, as things get closer to the wedding, she’ll do a site visit, help plan linens/setup etc., she makes a day-of timeline for vendors and bridal party, coordinates vendors, does the rehearsal, and a bunch more

Is your contract with the coordinator hourly, flat fee, or based on a percentage of your budget?  it’s a flat fee based on the estimated guest count.  we’ll have 120 guests max

We did our wedding at an all inclusive in Mexico and our coordinator’s services were included in the overall package.  She was lovely.

In terms of scope, she was my single point of contact for everything wedding related.  She sent me all the information up front, was able to get me info and pricing for any additional options we wanted (while they have packages, they’ll do pretty much anything you want),she coordinated all the other vendors, she met with me when we arrived in Mexico, she took all my materials and had them set up, and she was there on site coordinating the event.

Of course it’s a little different when you ahve the event at an all inclusive because tehy do this stuff so much and work with their own list of vendors.

I’m paying a flat fee of $1100 for unlimited correspondence and full time planning including day-of coordination of ceremony and reception in USVI. It is not based on guest count.

We are getting married on an island in Thailand and the planner/coordinator services are included. So far, she’s been great and helps with sorting out our guests’ accommodation as well. 🙂
