I think it all depends on the services they offer, and how long they’ve been established in the business (i think day of starts 50/hr to well over 1000 for the day).

I found a great one through the boards, who has done weddings for several years, but isn’t like over 10 years in the business and she’s so reasonable and is AWESOME!

Try reaching out to other bees… i bet you can get some good leads!

It depends on what you are looking for.  There are tons of wedding planners out there so you should be able to find one that fits into your budget.  Typically though if you looking for day of coordination, you can look to spend between $500-$2000.  I highly highly highly recommend getting someone for day of, you seriously don’t want to have to worry about anything on your day.  If you are looking for an hourly consultation it can range anywhere from $50-$200 an hour.  Now if you are looking for full service consultation you can look so spend between $1000-$10,000.  It all depends on who you look into and also where you are located.  If you get a planner in a city it might cost you more as opposed to a smaller town.

Also, don’t automatically go to the cheapest person out there.  Many people plan their own wedding and find they like it and get into the business without getting any formal certification or training.  Look for someone who has taken a course or certification program, belongs to a professional organization, has trained with another planner and who has references.  Another planner may cost a bit more, but that planner may have also had tons more training and has a professional network far larger than someone who is just starting out and who is much cheaper.  You want someone that can sit down with you and recommend 5 florists off the top of their head that will fit in your budget.

Bottom line, just do your research like anything else.  I hope that helps!

The DOC’s I have looked at are $800-$1200 for the day.
The full service coordinators averaged around $2,500-$4,000

(in the Chicago area).
