$150 hem, bustle, let out the bust, took in the hips.

I paid $80 just to have it pressed though! I thought that was pricey!

My alterations were $400 for a mini bustle, taking out the hem, extending the shoulder straps and having it pressed.  Actually ended up costing more than my dress itself too!

Mine was $350.00, I had it taken in a little at bust. Had a fabric belt sewn onto bodice and had a 5 point bustle done. Luckly I didn’t need a hem.

$330 – hem, bustle, bra cups, straps taken up, and sides taken in. I sure hope that includes pressing. I’m going to be an irritated bee if I go to pick up and owe more money.

After some minimal research on the subject I was really dreading the cost of alterations, but through several friends I found an amazing alterations lady who was willing to do bridal alterations outside of her boutique for refferals.

I paid $100 flat for:

– Entire bodice taken in (the bust and waist were way too big)

– English bustle

– Steam/press

@Miss Sunset:  Where did you go for your alterations? I’m in Boston as well, and my alterations quote was insanely high. It’s a very simple dress — no lace, beading, etc. — and I only need it taken in *maybe* one size, hemmed, and bustled. I have a ton of confidence in this women, so I am forcing myself to be OK with this price, but jeez. It was way more than I expected.

Mine were avout 1/2 the price of the dress…about 450 bucks to have it hemmed and taken in on hips and on the sides.  this is another major area where the bridal shops make their money….

I went to Brendas Golden Stitch in Petaluma and I paid $125 to have my dress hemmed, extra bonning added and my straps changed into a halter.
