I was just looking into doggie daycare for my 3-year-old 60lb pitbull named Jessie. I’ve looked into it several times but always decided against it because of cost. So many people say they put their dogs in doggie daycare, so I was wondering how much you pay for a full day and how often your dog goes there?
In Los Angeles, it seems like $35-$40 for a full day. I’m considering having my dog go 2-3 times a week. It adds up fast though!

Before I got a second dog she went twice a month. It’s $22 per day from seven am to seven pm. Overnight and daycare is $35 or $60 for two dogs.

For the most basic care/activity level it’s $20/dog/day. I usually always add the ‘MVP option’ which gives them two more sessions of play for $15/dog/day so it is about $35/dog/day. It DOES add up fast, but I’m paying for piece of mind. They’re by far the best in the area and I love knowing they’re in good hands.

We can do up to 5 hours for $17/dog, full day, up to 12 hours is $32/dog, 24 hour period is $50, second dog (which we have) is always 50% off. They go sporadically, but just recently spent a whole 10 days there.
We live in the NYC metro area.

Half day up to 6 hours is $15.
Full day is $21.
You can also buy packages which bring the cost down somewhat.

$50/day, so we just have a walker come instead for $15/day 🙂

Ours is a couple open play areas so she plays as long as shes there, up to 12 hours if you buy a package of ten works out to $20 a day. She goes 3 x a week there and then 2 x a week to a little home daycare accross the street from my house and I bake and/or cook dinner for the lady that runs it 🙂

@Ms.GoodEarth: It’s around $40/day where I live. Many facilities have packages and offer discounts if your dog goes multiple times per week. Our dog goes whenever I can’t work from home or my partner can’t get home at a reasonable time. We don’t like to keep him crated all day.

Daycare was too expensive for me…When I was in grad school and had to spend really long days away from home I put an ad on Craigslist advertising my dog as a companion for other stay at home lonely dogs. I got a ton of responses and ending up dropping my dog off every morning with a nice Great Pyranees who had a fun back yard they could play in. The whole situation worked out really well for both of us. Maybe you could try something like that.

$12 for up to 6 hours, $20 for 12 hours. They get indoor and outdoor play, obedience refreshers, obstacle course and individual play. They mainly go 2-3 times a month if they are luck, we have 4 dogs so it adds up. We normally just have a dog walker/babysitter stop by for 60-90 minutes to let them out and play during the work week for $40 a week.

@Ms.GoodEarth: We send our dog approx 2, sometimes three times a week. A full day is 31 dollars but our place lets us do half days ( 6 hrs) for 21 dollars which is awesome. Our dog is super social and hates being alone so its def worth it for us. Also coming home to a tired pup is awesome, especially in crappy weather

I take my dog to Petsmart “doggie day camp” (plays with other dogs in a big room) for $18/day, and sometimes day care (alone in a kennel) for $16/day. This is not an every day thing for him, we only take him when there will be someone working on the house during the day (he’s not so good with strangers in “his” house).
It’s cool because their hours for one day are 7am to 9pm. I never leave him there that long, but it’s great for when I have to stay late at work or something.

We send our younger dog twice a week, rates just went up this year from 17 to 20 for a 12 hour day. It’s definitely worth it for us!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I guess it’s an expense that sounds worth it to some extent, particularly because she would come home tired! She has some behavior issues when she’s outside (barks at small dogs) that completely disappear when she’s tired, so it would be great!
@MrsZapatos: I LOVE that idea! We actually have connections with the rescue foundation we got our dog from, I wonder if anyone there would be interested in this sort of thing… Hmmmmmmm… Thanks for the idea!
@aggie2010: I’ll have to look into Petsmart, there’s one right by my house! Thanks for the idea!

Mine is $18 a day. If your board a dog it is $25 a day. I love my place. They do not use kennels unless you ask so most dogs sleep in the living rooms on dog beds together all night.
