So after being hit by the NYC-area wedding cost reality check, and having recently purchased my engagement ring (my Fiance and I have all joint accounts), it got me wondering if there’s a relationship between the cost of an ering, and the cost of the wedding. I know many brides whose rings cost a lot more than mine, and had less pricey weddings, and vice versa – it seems that ering expectations vary by region, as do wedding prices…and I just was wondering if there’s any correlation between the two!
So bees, how does the price of your ering compare with the cost of your wedding? And where are you located?
I’m in NYC, my ering was ~$5k, and my wedding (NYC area, but not in the city) is going to be ~$50k. So my ring is equal to about 10% of the wedding costs.

I prefer to wear my money 😀 My ring was closer to 10k and we are doing an elopement style wedding in Jamaica and staying there for 10 days! That, including airfare, comes to around $7,500. We chose to splurge on a ring and fancy honeymoon. Fortunately our families are both super supportive and this entire process has been stress-free!

- Wedding: March 2016 - Enoch Turner Schoolhouse
hmm we didn’t set a budget for the wedding but have been keeping everything at the lowest costs as much as possible! While my ring was appraised at $12,500 – my Fiance only paid under $4k because of my dad’s “connections”, he’s a goldsmith by trade and made my ring. Right now our wedding costs are at $25k and I’m in Toronto Canada.
