I dunno, I think if you didn’t inquire as to her pricing, you’ll have to just suck up the sitting fee if you can’t afford the cost of the digital files.  Otherwise, maybe have her produce your card as well?

Did you make it clear that you also planned to purchase some photos from her?Her quoted price may have been higher if she thought the digital files were all you wanted.

In the end though, lesson learned- get a full quote up front.

I think you are sort of out of line telling her she needs to come down on her prices. You should have asked pricing before you booked and went through with the session. It’s not her fault you were not an educated consumer. We charge $80 per file or $250 for 5 so her prices are about what I charge. Files are usually priced higher because once you have that file you are not going to make any money off prints from that image. Photographers charge what they have to in order to keep their business running.

I think it is ridiculous that some photographers charge that much for digital files (At the resort we went to we were charged a ridiculous fee… we ended up paying over $400 for just a few pictures), however I think you’re pretty much stuck now. You could try and nicely work out a deal with her (doesn’t hurt) but otherwise I think you’re just going to have to pay up.
