New to the posting world! I am in need of some advice and suggestions. I am in a tizzy over holiday cards! Yes I know sounds silly but here is the back story.
I found a photographer local to my area, I contacted her in regards to taking holiday photos of my family. Every year I normally do a nice family holiday photo card. She charged a sitting fee of $175, I though that was a bit steep since I have had many experiences with photographers in the past and didn’t pay that, however, the girl I used to do my previous was taking some time off due to her pregnancy. So I looked at her price chart which was inline with what I have paid in the past with other photographers so figured I would give it a shot.
We did the pics last week, she did a nice job, she was with us for about 30-40 mins, I wasn’t overly thrilled with a lot of the pictures but she did capture some cute ones of my son. I contact her to see if i could purchase 3 digital files to use for my holiday cards. She responds with a yes, however, it would cost me $200, $100 for the 1st file and $50 for each additional file for the digital images!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SHOCKED!
I realize it is my fault for possibly not asking the cost prior, though she never listed it on her price chart. I have had newborn seesions, engagement session, and 2 previous family photo sessions and NEVER paid anywhere close to that! I have always paid between $20-30 for the digital file. I then of course purchase photos as well.
My husband is furious! We surely didn’t not expect to pay anywhere close to that price for holiday cards and that doesn’t even include the purchase of the holiday cards and the postage or getting prints for family for the holidays!
We are in a total bind. My husband wants to email her and tell her she either needs to come down in her digital prices or we can’t purchase from her, but I am sooo not confrontional but I do think something needs to be said to her, but what!!!!!!
Ahh please help!!
