It sounds expensive to me, too. I have seen places that charge $350 or more for wedding day hair but the place we found was $150. Makeup artist was $75 for each Bridesmaid or Best Man and $150 for me, of course that did not include the trials.

HappyORBride:  I am assuming you might be in Oregon based on your username. 🙂 I live in OR and have been just as shocked as you! One of the least expensive ones I’ve found has been $300. I am meeting with a lady who will do everything for $235 this week. That is the best deal I have found so far! It seems so crazy that I have considered saying I just need my hair and makeup done for engagement photos to cut costs!

My hair and makeup is $450 and my girls’ hair and makeup is $175. I couldn’t really find a better deal in my area (the Bay Area)… it’s crazy! I better look like a friggin’ super model…

It makes a huge difference on where you live.  I ended up using a local stylist close to my venue (2.5 hours away from home) that was about 300 cheaper for my hair and makeup vs. anyone in the greater Boston area for the same look.  Definitely shop around!  I ended up using a place I had never heard of, but I went in for a trial and they did a great job!

HappyORBride:  I’m in the Dallas area. I’m paying $1100 for me and 4 others. That included hair and makeup for everyone (airbrush for me +2), on-site day-of, bride trial (they came to me for my trial), and a “kit” for touch-ups.

HappyORBride:  wow. My makeup trial was $40 including eyelashes. My makeup the day of is $50. My updo is around $40. Probably for both tbe trial and day of. Same for my bridesmaids if they choose to get them.

I paid about $400 for hair and makeup in Hawaii, which included flowers for hair, airbrush foundation, individual false eyelashes, and a touch-up kit. It was expensive, but Hawaii is an expensive place.  I know I wouldn’t have been able to do a very good job myself so it was totally worth it for me.

Wow!!  I’m not in your area, but I’m paying $85 for hair, the stylist came reccommended to me by a friend who had used her in another wedding.  I’ve had a trial already and she’s amazing.  She’s travelling to my venue to do everyone’s hair, charging $65 for the bridesmaids.

I’m having my Maid/Matron of Honor do our makeup because she’s extremely good at it and uses all of the top stuff from Sephora, etc.  That’s saving us all a lot of money, but the results are the same if not better.

I say shop around, but most importantly, especially with hair, make sure you get the right person and you have a trial!

HappyORBride:  Try thumbtack.com, there are a lot of people who are just starting their businesses and generally have more affordable prices. A lot of people have years of experience but are just venturing out on their own. I havent looked for hair/make up on thumbtack yet. But I did book my florist (after meeting her in person) and her cost was $2K less than what I was bring quoted for proper Boston area. Good luck! Beauty for weddings are def pricey.

Brides HMU 250

Bridesmaid or Best Man 110

flower girl 30

i shopped around and that was the best price i could find. Anything less than that was just horrible quality products used. I found some places that charged 300+

i haven’t seen anything go over about 450 for the bride though. I live in arizona.
