We’re using a restored railroad station converted into the ballroom of a college. It has awesome ceiling to floor windows all the way around, exposed beams, lights hanging from ceiling and sunlights. It holds 300 people and includes:

venue, kids game room, tables, chairs, tableclothes, all dinnerware, silverware, set up, buffet stations, waiters, dj set up and some decorations – it cost $200 to rent for 5 hours with a food minimum of $3k.

Ours is free for 7 hours with the food minimum of 7000.  I specifically only looked into venues with minimums toward food.  Paying a few thousand for just the room plus having to pay for food and drinks for everyone on top of it seemed like it would make the wedding cost go out of hand
