We have been to both Cabo and Dominican Republic at all-inclusives (and we are doing our honeymoon in Jamaica in January!)

The resorts themselves are quite safe and if you book outings through them, you are in a safe group. I don’t know about going off and travelling alone. But our resorts had excursions to take us snorkeling, paddle boarding, hiking, horseback riding, waterfall-jumping, etc etc.  Lots of fun and you are with both other tourists and some locals to guide you. I enjoyed it a lot.

Haven’t actually been, but we thought we were going to do Costa Rica for our honeymoon. It looks absolutely amazing, so much hiking and nature to see, but I don’t think it’s really a place you go for all inclusives, but there are a few. By what I heard, it’s pretty safe, the only issues I saw were on the carribean side.

DR and Jamaica are not great off the resort IMO. Lovely beautiful resorts and lots to choose from though.

Cabo was one of my favourite places – safe in the town, lots to do, easy to get around. We stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, so its not in town, adults only, quiet, amazing service, and free shuttles into their sister properties in town.

Costa Rica is next on my list! From what I’ve heard from recent traveller friends, very friendly and safe. Lots to do. Less to choose from as far as AIs go, but SO much to do otherwise. If you aren’t 100% sold on an AI, theres tons of air bnbs there run by expats from Canada/US.

I’ve been to all three! Costa Rica was my personal favourite – the country is very focused on ecological preservation: eco-tourism is big and while there are some all-inclusives they aren’t as common as they are in Jamaica and DR.  But CR’s jungles, volcano, beaches are gorgeous.  All three countries are going to have bad actors, just like the rest of the world.  San Jose in CR is known to not be tourist-friendly.

DR & Jamaica are also stunning, I just found that CR’s type of tourism is more focused on showing off their beautiful country rather than catering to the stereotypical ‘sit on a beach and eat too much’ type (not that there’s anything wrong with that, just depends on what you want).

We were actually planning our wedding (destination) in Punta Cana Dominican republic but decided against it because our grandparents couldnt really travel and we want them on our day. But the hotel we stayed at was Majestic Elegance and it was beautiful full of entertainment and the food was amazing. For our honeymoon we are going to Playa Mujeres in Mexico at a hotel called Excellence look into it its such a beautiful place!!

Also just got back a few months ago from Jamaica, stayed at Secrets Wild Orchid and it was BEAUTIFUL!! But we are also in our late 20’s early 30’s and so the entertainment was lacking for us not sure what you are looking for but the hotels were beautiful non the less.

we also did plenty of excursions we bought them at the hotel, jet ski, paddle boarding (non motorized are all free) and catamaran and snorkling along with parasailing. ummm now im having withdrawls lol

costa rica is hands down one of most amazing places i’ve visited, however there are not many all inclusives. full of nature, and we traveled to 3 different areas and never felt unsafe.

Costa Rica is my all time favorite destination so far! If you’re a nature lover then thats definitely the place to go. Food is delicious, people are super friendly and its just a gorgeous destination full of different things to do. Volcanoes, zip lining, horseback riding, river tours, rainforest hikes etc., Punta Cana is nice but there isn’t much to do in the area that isn’t available at your resort. Saona Island is there but its like traveling from your resort on the beach to another beach which didn’t seem necessary for me. Stayed at Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica same as PP and its pretty fantastic! Had fun on the hip strip, took a tour to Bob Marleys house and visited Dunns River Falls. Have only been to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico so can’t comment on Cabo but currently considering Riviera Maya for our honeymoon.
