Hi WeddingBees! My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon, and would love to go to Costa Rica. Only problem… we’re getting married in late May, honeymoon during the rainy season. Has anyone done this? I’ve been to CR before during Jan and it was amazing, but not sure how different the rainy season is on both sides of the country. Any guidance would be great!!

ITs definitely risky. I have been to CR twice during rainy season- once fOr two months, may and June. It was one of the worst rainy seasons they had had in yrs so maybe that’s why but it was pretty miserable. It isn’t like rainy seasons in the Caribbean where it is just an afternoon rain. Even on the caribbean side, we experienced a lot of storms. That said, we still had an amazing time! We still did a lot of activities like white water rafting, hot springs etc. It just isn’t great if you wanna lay poolside. The second time I went was October and it was amazing! We had maybe one afternoon of light drizzle so it was perfect! It depends what kind of trip you want. If you want to relax and tan and swim I’d say pick someone safer just in case. If you’re prepared for rain and can make the best of it, then it might beworth the risk. As you know, CR is amazing!
I don’t think that was all that helpful haha. Sorry! Just wanted to let ya know my experiences!

I went during the rainy season in early August 06, and it was one of my favorite vacations. It rained once, at night, so it didn’t ruin our plans. We were there for a week. It may have sprinkled a bit when we were hiking in the cloud forest, but we couldn’t tell because the folliage was so thick that it acted like a canopy and kept it off of us. I just say it might have rained because we thought we might have heard rain. Then again, we heard and saw all sorts of stuff in the cloud forest that I never imagined. I kept thinking that it was like being on a movie set.
