My sister lived there for two years and I’ve visited – we’re even spending part of our honeymoon there, too.

Despite being a small country, it can be rather different from place to place.  Where are you going?

We were there in March of this year!  We had an awesome time.  Besides what you’d normally pack for a tropical vacay (swimwear, cover-ups, shorts, tanks), I’d bring stuff for the specific activities you’re thinking about doing.  Like horseback riding—long pants and comfortable shoes.  Or for fancy dinners, your favorite dress and heels.  The only thing we lacked was bug spray and enough sunscreen to last us the whole trip!

If you’re checking luggage I’d bring suntan lotion and bugspray – suntan lotion is expensive there.

Also for activities I had one of those tanktops that has a zipper pocket built in so I didn’t have to worry about losing a purse if we were going around.

we also went there in march (got engaged there actually!). i would bring LOTS of suncreen–we ran out and a bottle of SPF 45 (we are really pale..) cost us $20 to buy a bottle!

bring a hat–it’s sunny 🙂

if you’re going on a boat–bring dramamine just in case..we had a heck of a time finding it down there.

where in costa rica are you going???

Ohhhh, I did a semester there back in college and it’s an amazing place, you’ll love it!! I can’t really think of anything specific to bring, maybe a small english-spanish pocket dictionary?

Others had a good idea about extra sunscreen and probably a smallish backpack or bag for hiking or going to the beach, etc…

I also vote for a deck of cards or something to do at night…

Most cycling shirts have zipper pockets so you can find them at bicycle shops.  They might be in the athletic section of department stores as well or other sports stores but I’ve always gotten mine from bike shops.

Are you going to Arenal?  We got really lucky and the clouds cleared for a minute, if it does that take pictures quick!
