I have been to CR and I think it is the best place on earth.  I am going again for my honeymoon.  Healthy food, beautiful environment with a wide range of activities.  Nice people.

I’ve been to St. Lucia and it was beautiful! I can’t say anything about costa rica since I have never been there, but I would ask your travel agent or do some research on your own about the recent crime rate. I haven’t heard good things about mexico or the surrounding areas because of the cartel and drug trafficking.

Same wedding date 🙂  We really wanted to go to St. Lucia but I couldn’t find any really nice resorts in our price range and didn’t want to just settle. I looked into The Springs Resort in Costa Rica – it looks beautiful, but not beachy, so I was thinking maybe a few nights there and a few in a beach all-inclusive.  When it comes down to it money-wise though, Mexico just makes the most sense for us and seems to be the easiest.  Secrets Maroma Beach is where we’ve been looking and the resort has great reviews/looks beautiful!  Good Luck whatever you choose!

Also, have you looked into a specific resorts in St. Lucia? I’m just curious because I’d love to look into them as well!  Where in Florida are you getting married?

From what I’ve heard from friends:

Costa Rica is beautiful and beachy, but also has lots of activities (zip lining, seeing volcanos, horseback riding on the beach etc). there aren’t many all-inclusives there though

St. Lucia has more all-inclusives and it seems to be more of a lounge on the beach type place.

So I guess it’s up to you and what you think you’ll be doing. Personally, I’d take Costa Rica bc it’s a mix of both. You can lay on the beach – but also have a few adventures.

I like that Costa Rica has a bit of a wild edge to it. I realllly find all-inclusive resort-type trips annoying (a la the Caribbean), so that’s the perspective i’m coming from. Give me a hike in the rainforest and amazing local culture and i’m a happy woman.

I went to the Sandals Regency in St. Lucia – LOVED it.  But I hear great things about Costa Rica so I don’t think you can go wrong.  PM me if you want photos/more info

@msmac: hollywood beach marriott. we toured crowne plaza though for that same date..how funny! We’ll be getting married right down the street from each other on the same night.  We’re from Coral Springs/Parkland, what about you?

In regards to the honeymoon, let me know what you end up choosing! Try cheapcaribbean.com for packages, they have all the areas of Costa Rica on there.  And if you find a great price, you can go through a travel agent who will usually price match the “sites”.  That’s what we’re going to do just so we feel better booking through a human who can help us with any issues that may arise compared to just a website.

That is really a tough call!

I have honeymooned at Sandals n St. Lucia. While we were there we went on excursions around the island, went snorkeling twice, did catamaran cruises… It was a blast.

And in May, Mr. Lox and I are going to Costa Rica! Amusingly, we have chosen to go zip lining, horseback riding, and snorkeling for sure.

Anyway, I think you can’t go wrong at either place. But do check the typical weather for the tip me when you’ll be there. The PP’s comment about rainy season in Costa Rica is spot on so it’s something to keep in mind.
