I’m going to order my flowers from Costco and do my own bouquets as well. Why don’t you order in some now and make a trial bouquet and see how they hold up? I’m sure they’ll work fine.

Good to know others are in this boat too!  I want calas for my July wedding, but superstore (Loblaws) can’t guarantee that they will come in without being damaged or wilted.  I have dreamed of white cal lilies even before I knew I was getting married, so I decided to go another route….  I’m going with fake calas with real roses!  When I showed the cala lilies to my fiance he couldn’t tell the difference!  I will give them to the florist to put in with my bouquets. Bought them at Michaels!

i went to a flower shop by my house and got a quote for mine and my girls bouquets. i wanted my girls to have large white cala lilies with long stems, and that lady told me they price each cala lily 12.50 a piece for the large. now for mine i wanted 20 small dark purple cala lilies and she priced it at $125 just for my bouquet.

so i hope u find them cheaper then what mine were priced for.

I really want some of the black/dark purple calla lillies. Has anyone else ordered/used these? They’ve been my favorite since I was young and I’ve drawn/painted them a billion times. If I don’t use them, I’ll probably go flowerless!

@s.renea9:  Oh wow… that is intimidating. I had a similar idea in mind, but was hoping to save money by just having my bridesmaids carry 1 calla and me carry maybe just a couple large ones and use a few more for decorations.

Not to be negative but ….white callas can be iffy.  I worked at a floral studio and we used them allllll the time.  The big ones are often bruised (which is quite obvious) and the little ones can be very very small and tight.  Which means you may need twice as many as expected.

@s.renea9:  Unfortunately this is a fair price.  Especially for the large ones, you always have to over order because at least half of them won’t be nice enough to stand solo.

@s.renea9:  Also, 20 small purples could be a VERY small bouquet depending on the stock the florist gets in.  You could get lucky and get huge flowers, but I would never count on it.  My guess is that she’s estimating for a larger number for the bouquet because unless you specifically wanted a very small bouquet (which unless you are very petite yourself, may look off) you probably wouldn’t be happy with only 20 once you see it.  We would typically use up to 50 for a normal sized bouquet.

I ordered silk calla lillies from afloral and I thought they were great. They look real, good quality, nice size and they’re cheap, I think under $2 each. I’m not going to use them anymore but I was considering just using callas after I saw those.
