I <3 Costco!  We have the executive membership and a Costo Amex (free with the membership).  I put everything on it so I get gobs of cash back.  My check was over $300 last year, plus the $90-something from the Exec. membership.  This year with all the wedding stuff and my husband using it, too, I’m sure it’ll be higher.

There’s just two of us and we shop there all the time.  You do have to be careful to not buy too much and not get carried away and impulse buy stuff you don’t need.  For things that come in ‘too much’ we’ll often freeze a bunch of it for later.  <3 the foodsaver.  Not everything there is cheaper, either, it’s just convient if you need a lot.  🙂

Anyone can buy liquor there without a membership if that’s all you want.  And if you want to go look around and price-compare, just tell the membership checker person that you’re just buying liquor and have a stroll around the store.

Costco is amazing for regular life as well.  Membership for a basic card is $55 and two people can have a card.  We love to go bulk shopping every two-three months.  We spend about $150-$200, but we don’t have to go shopping for another few weeks.  =)

I think it’s worth it in the long run.  I saw a PP say something about alcohol.  I had to stop and think for a moment.  I realized we don’t have any in our stores, but then remember New Jersey has a law where alcohol isn’t allowed to be sold in grocery stores.  Haha.

Costco is great for some items, but for us it’s just not worth having a membership– for wedding related stuff, my mom has a membership so we gave her money and she picked up what we need.

Not sure if anyone else said this already, but Costco does have a wonderful deli and bakery that don’t require you to buy in bulk.  They are also a great place to buy electronics, furniture, and print pictures.  And you can always buy bathroom items in bulk which is cheaper and you don’t have to run out everytime you run out of toilet paper or toothpaste.  They will probably allow you to take a free tour if you tell them you are trying to decide whether or not you want a membership.

costco is great for a lot of other items that you may want throughout the year.  take a trip there with a friend who has a card and see what’s there and if it would be worth your while.

we get all of our meat at costco because the quality is great, even at our costco in mexico.  some of the bulk items aren’t always a great deal.  it may seem like it at first but when you divide it out individually, i can usually buy the same thing cheaper on sale somewhere.  they do have good deals when things go on sale though.

liquor can be really inexpensive too.  i picked up a case of asti for our wedding for less than $5/bottle.

Oh, I love Costco. Although if you’ve ever been to the original store, it’s great for kitchen stuff (like for catering)

My family always goes to Costco for anything party/bbq related when we’ll have many guests, so I think it may be a good thing for stocking up on your wedding food and drinks. For afterwards – the main things I get from Costco are paper towels, toilet paper, steaks (yum), batteries, socks, and canned goods. Other than that – not much else. So if you go through previously stated items quickly, it may work out to keep the membership. Either that or borrow a friend’s. But pay in cash because they will not accept your card if it’s not the same last name as the membership card.
