@michelleq611:  Hi! I had mine at Asian Pearl in Fremont last yr. After my research for restaraunts in the bay area, most will be about $500/table (10 seats) for the food. As always after all the additions to the price usually theres roo for negotiations, like paying in cash!

I agree most Chinese restaurants in the bay area really sucks with horrible seating plans, pillars in the way, super tight space when you have more than 20 tables, or horrible food with expensive menu, dirty..

Since it looks like you still have some time til you need to seriosly do your wedding bookings, not sure if Alameda could be an option of location, but i heard a new chinese banquet style restaurant is being in process to remodel and to open next year. It should be a pretty big place as well.

Best of luck!

@michelleq611:  Oh, I just saw this! We had our wedding banquet at East Ocean in Emeryville, right on the water. It was a beautiful setting and the food was quite good (I’ve heard it can be hit or miss). It was a bit of a tight squeeze but we still managed to have a dance floor and a photo booth (and 20 tables). They have a number of pricing options ranging from $400 – $650 (I believe).

Good luck on your search!

@michelleq611:  I’m in San Jose, which is a bit far from the city, but generally I’ve found that most Bay Area restaurants are $450-650 a table as @sharkchomp said, plus 15% gratuity and standard tax. It just depends on your menu. We are having ours at Dynasty in SJ – and since we’re having it on a Sunday, there’s no venue fee, no corkage fee, etc etc so we’re saving a bunch of money!

@michelleq611:  There is a great range of prices and optiosn in the Bay Area.

Dynasty, Mayflower, Asian Pearl, ABC Seafood, East Ocean, all have great pricing starting around 400-750 depending on the menu. I’d highly recommend Yank Sing in SF if you want the Asian banquet dishes without all the typical “Asian decor”. They’re a lot pricier, (600-over 1K) but the venue is easier to work with in terms of decor and layout.
