@oneovakind:  I personally didn’t, but J. Crew has some gorgeous cotton gowns that look just as elegant as those made of silk or a sterotypically “luxurious” fabric.

@oneovakind:  I’ve been looking into it as well…I don’t think it looks cheap at all!  The only way it would is if the workmanship on the dress was subpar.  Are there any specific dresses you’re thinking of?  I’d love to see pics!

I think this could totally work.  Where are you getting married?  Like what’s the location?  Beach?

@oneovakind:  That is lovely!  I just keep imagining that cotton will be soooo comfortable!  Here’s a photo of one that I’m considering!  I’d do it in either a solid white cotton voile or white cotton swiss dot.  Plus it has pockets!  Score!

I am not wearing a cotton dress but I think the examples a couple of the ladies provided look great and not cheap at all!

I think cotton is a great inexpensive option though. If I weren’t so picky myself I would opt for a cotton dress.

Good luck on your hunt!

@oneovakind:  I love swiss dot!!!!!  OMG, I have been trying to make sure I find a dress with pockets!  I’m not sure why either, I just love them!  I’m thinking I’ll put a handkercheif in one and chapstick in the other?  I firmly believe that all dresses should have pockets!  Except for maybe tight/mermaid styles…

I LOVE the idea of a cotton gown–I think it looks classy, not cheap!  It’s a natural material, after all (and so many gowns are not).  My dress is silk (again, natural material), but cotton would’ve been my second choice (maybe my first, if the dress were offered in it).

And too bad my dress is mermaid—I really like the idea of pockets.  I think pockets are awesome even just for the sassy pictures of a glamorous bride stuffing her hands into them.  I’m thinking of a puffy short dress with pockets for my rehearsal dinner just so I can have those pockets.

Love the pic you posted–post more when the real thing arrives!

@oneovakind:  LOVE that dress.

My dress is being made of a hemp silk! So unique and it’s going to be short. I love the simple yet classy look. I could not fathom wearing an uncomfortable dress made of a material I am not use to wearing.
