I loved the cotton sateen in photos and HATED it in person.  It’s very cheap looking and wrinkles badly.  Definitely see it in person before you decide.   If you read the reviews online, a lot of people say bad things about it.  I just couldn’t understand it, it looked great – but in person, it was a different story.

Our wedding is at the end of September, and we are having cotton sateen dresses. Personally, I did not think it looked cheap in person, but thats just me. The satin dresses are much shinier than the sateen. I would choose one or the other.

Having worked in fashion retail for many years before teaching, my advice would be to definitely NOT mix the fabrics. While either would be perfectly fine in terms of wear for bridesmaid dresses (the sateen being slightly more durable and, IMO, forgiving for imperfect figures) the fabrics wear in different ways over the day and you may get more wrinkles in the abdominal area with sateen where as silk will be more likely to crease around the legs. I do not think the sateen is too summery at all. Hope this helps!
