Has anyone used any of the Couch to 5K apps? I’ve just downloaded one, and thought I might start next week (after my birthday, so I can stuff my face full of cake without worrying).
I used to be fairly fit, but for the past two years I’ve done pretty much no exercise due to various medical reasons, but my doctor has given me the OK to do a lot more things than I could do before.
Has anyone used the app and found it to be a good way to get into running? I’m a total beginner when it comes to running, and I’m still waiting on my ‘special shoes’. Are there any other programmes or apps that I should consider?

I didn’t use the app but I followed the program just to see how it was. It wasn’t bad – but I found that I wasn’t any more motivated from the program then when I was just running last summer.
I like the Nike App for running, because it shows me my route, my speed, and where I slowed down and sped up, so I can shoot for a more even pace.

I have a Couch 2 5K app on my iPod and I really love it. I am NOT a runner, so it’s very tough for me. I actually stopped using it for a while because it was in the upper 90’s here (cough cough last summer cough) and I almost passed out trying to run outside.
However, I LOVE that I can make my own playlists that motivate me.
It’s ok to take it slow and re-do days too, so don’t get too down on yourself if you can’t complete some days.

I have it and think its great! That said, I only got halfway before my foot decided it hated running and I am on a running ban!

Love this app! It really does help.
I still hate running though. I always hear about that “runner’s high” and how someone looks forward to a good run or had a good run. I say bullshit. Yeah, it feels good that I accomplished a run because it’s healthy for me, but I still hate running.
