Have you taken a test or seen a doctor?  Although I’ve never been pregnant, my sister, who got pregnant while on the pill, had a lot of simliar symptoms, although she didn’t have a ‘light’ period, she just missed hers completely.  But for piece of mind, it may be worth taking a test.

It could just be early symptoms of PMS. I’ve been on the pill for six years and usually start getting symptoms similar to what you’re describing a week or so before my actual period starts.

Take a test! Your periods have changed, you have “symptoms” I don’t think it would hurt to take a test. I would say that you’ve missed two periods by now. My friend had her period throughout her pregnancy but it was short, light and only lasted 2-3 days. I think you probably need to at least look into it.

@Mrs.KMM: Take a test, then, but do be aware that when you’re on the pill, your periods AND symptoms can still change. I never really had the symptoms I do now until about a year ago and your periods do tend to lighten/shorten with continued use.

No harm in taking a test. Go get one and hurry back with the results! 🙂

I’ve heard that you really have to take the pill at the same time every day… waiting until the morning after when you usually take it at night might make it much less effective. :/

I would test immediately because if you are pregnant, you need to stop taking the pill immediately.

My biggest symptoms were the breast tenderness (never had anything like that in the past- mine hurt like hell, just as you described) and the frequent urination and tiredness. Do you have frequent urination? That’s a HUGE symptom in the 1st trimester.

You should really start setting an alarm at the same time each day to remind you to take the pill! But just a note on frequent urination: that’s a VERY common period symptom, too, and many women have it. (And it sucks. A lot.)

Just take a home pregnancy test… no one on an internet board can tell you if you’re pregnant or not.

If I was on the pill and thought I could be pregnant, I would -immediately- see a doctor. Or at least quit taking birth control until I knew for sure.

You are having some symptoms, and you don’t want to ignore them to find out later that you were taking the pill for several months while pregnant.

And tests are cheap! You can even get them at a dollar store. (No joke!)

I agree that you should take a test if you’re worried about it. But the sore boob thing – I get them before my period every once in a while.

I don’t think it’s weird for your body to mimic early pregnancy symptoms when you’re on a hormonal BC since your body is essentially tricked into thinking it’s already pregnant.
