I’ve been under tons of stress lately. Wedding planning is getting intense and I’m a student (in difficult classes) who works part time. It’s common for me to have anxiety attacks when I’m not wedding planning, so now that I am planning, it’s worse (obviously). The other night my fiance said something that frustrated me. I instantly got mad, but at the same time it struck me as ridiculously funny. I uncontrollably started laughing (maniacally) and tears started streaming down my face. It was kind of freaky.
My period: Toward the end of January it came at the normal time and lasted the usual 5-6 days. Then, one week later, it came again and lasted the usual 5-6 days. So I had two periods one week apart. According to the most recent one, I should have gotten my next one a day or two ago, but I have none of the usual physical symptoms that I usually have just before I get it. I have a pregnancy test, but I don’t want to waste it since I don’t think I’m pregnant. I don’t recall ever hearing of someone having a double period from pregnancy. (Please tell me if I should rethink this.)

I’m sure it’s just irregularity from stress!

Stress causes that or prevents menses from occurring. That’s why many women go on birth control to control it. Obviously that has its sideffects as well.

Stress around the time of ovulation DEFINITELY affects your period.
I’ve never heard of it causing a period to come so soon, but I know for a fact that it can definitely delay a period, and I’ve experienced that multiple times. Whenever I’m under a lot of constant stress, I can expect my period to be a full week late. (Thank GOD my period came this morning- only a day late. I get married on Saturday so I really needed it to be on time!)
I’m sure an early period could be an effect, too, though.

Ugh my period was a week and a half late this month from stress and when I finally did get it I was an emotional mess. I think you definitely are having these issues from stress!

Yes!!! This has happened to me a couple of times before.

Yes. I married young (this is my 2nd time around) and during my divorce, didn’t have a period for 3 months due to stress.
Over Christmas, I lost someone very close to me, very tragically and suddenly, and didn’t menstruate either. Odd thing was, when I did start again, it was on the same day as his sister..who lives across the country…a month later.
Improper diet can do it too.

I was extremely stressed out a few years ago with school and other things, so while being on the pill I ended up spotting for an entire month after my period. I ended up having an ultrasound (I have PCOS but I’m not supposed to get cysts while on birth control pills) and it was normal, they weren’t sure why I ended up bleeding like that, especially since I was on the pill, but I was definitely not pregnant.
Unfortunately, stress really can mess with your period. I would just keep an eye on it and take the pregnancy test if need be.

Yes, it’s stress. I’m in school 10 hours away from my hometown, and traveling back and forth always makes me skip a period or have two. Alas, technology has not quite advanced enough to give us complete control over our bodies.
