So I just switched OBGYN practices and I’m SO relieved. I loved my doctor but hated the nurses who worked there! I would call to talk to a nurse and they were always so short with me ugh.
So long story short, I’m kind of a hairy person. I would say most of my hair growth is normal, but I feel like some of it isn’t. My bikini line is extremely visible when wearing bikinis. I’d say 2 or 3 inch down the thighs. I get waxed but it’s a nightmare if I don’t. I also have a few chin hairs I pluck every once in a while. I feel like the bikini line is starting to become a problem. I see girls on the beach who have NO hair there, none. I feel like 90% of girls I know/see at the beach/see online, don’t worry about their bikini lines. All of my friends look at me like I’m nuts when I tell them about my problem! Most of them say “you have to shave yours?” WTF. I’m wondering if this is a hormonal imbalance/PCOS.
However, I have no other symptoms of PCOS. I’m a little bit heavier than I’d like to be but its absolutely because I drank a crap ton of soda and ate horrible all winter. I was in great shape before that. My periods come every 30/31 days, and they’re totally painless. I was on birth control for one year in my sophomore year of highschool and it was just cuz I was having sex. I stopped it after that so it’s not masking any symptoms. I’ve never had painful periods, or irregular ones. I had acne in high school but for the past few years my skin has been clear with the occasional breakout.
So the real big problem here is my hair. Which also I guess, could be chalked up to my genes. My mother had those same chin hairs when she was young, and her bikini line growth was very similar to mine. She DID have trouble getting pregnant but was checked for PCOS many many times by many different doctors and no doctor ever said she had PCOS. They diagnosed her with unexplained infertility, all of her tests for everything came back absolutely fine. They could not figure out why she wasn’t getting pregnant. My grandmother was extremely fertile, she basically decided when she wanted to get pregnant, and got pregnant that day. Maybe my mom’s pregnancy issues were an isolated thing. My mom’s brother’s daughter has PCOS, but she has all the symptoms. Cysts on her ovaries, acne, overweight, periods that would put her in the hospital/also irregular, and insulin isuses.
I’m just nervous because my bikini line is making me feel like something is not right with me. I don’t see any other woman having this issue, so wtf is going on? I have my appointment with my new dcotor tomorrow but I believe it is a short appointment so I thought I’d ask some girls on here first.
