I would ask someone if they could add the fabric. I don’t see why they couldn’t if they can add it to wedding dress.
how high does she want it?
I think it would be easier to let her wear another dress in the same fabric, or order fabric directly from JLM and have a dress custom made for her that looks the same in front but with a different back.
Unless the whole back was redone, you would have a very visible seam along the original back of the dress.
I’d let your sister pick out a similar dress from JH that has a higher back.
What if instead of adding the exact fabric, you add a lace or something in a similar color? That way it covers, but you don’t have to worry about the seams since it’s a different fabric (we’ll call it an “accent”)
I’m not sure how high she wants it. She says she has a skin problem, she gets little red bumps. But her being her she thinks stuff is way worse than it is. Ie, she’s normally about a size 4, smaller when she wants to be, yet she thinks she’s fat and her calves are huge. Enough said. So maybe her skin deal has gotten worse over the years like she says, but my guess is she thinks her back will look fat in the dress.
Either way, I don’t want her to feel uncomfortable. That is, if she even is in the wedding, at this point she said she doesn’t want to be in it anymore after our little argument. Fun fun.
@rachelss – Thanks for the link, that could be a good call. But won’t that look stupid if she’s the only one out of 6 with a different dress? She’s not my Maid/Matron of Honor (I wasn’t hers either), so she’s be 2nd in line and it would be a done deal if she was Maid/Matron of Honor as people do that all the time for the Maid/Matron of Honor, have them in a diff. dress, but she is not.
Yeah I thought people do things like this all the time for wedding dresses, so that’s why I thought maybe it could be done with a Bridesmaid or Best Man Dress….
@Goldilocks – Hmm that could totally work! That way the front would look the same at least, but just the back would be different….I’ll have to check into it, thanks!
What about a bolero jacket? You could maybe have all your bridesmaids wear them for the ceremony and then they could choose whether to take them off at the reception. That way you could match the color and fabric or go with something completely different like lace.
