As far as TTC goes I’m not a great advert because as well as my pics I have a separate miscarriage issue, however on metformin my cyckes have gone from 6 weeks to bang on 28 days and I ovulate every month and have been pregnant (unsuccessfully sadly) 5 times. You will have less side effects if you keep your diet very controlled, lots of fruit and veg, don’t cook in oil, don’t eat huge quantities if dairy (ice cream kills my internals) but the side effects lessen and I’m on a high dose, 2000mg a day. Also drink lots of water when taking it seems to help. The more consistent you are with diet and mealtimes the better it’ll be. Good luck.

Lindsey2308 :  I was diangosed with PCOS in 2012 and put on Metformin then since I wasn’t having periods even with BC. Fastforward to 2015 DH and I decided to start trying. We ended up getting pregnant the first time trying! It ended in a MC, but we got pregnant the next time trying again. I’m not sure if we were really lucky, or what, but without the Metformin I definitely wouldn’t have ovulated. When I was TTC, I slowly upped my dose from 500mg to 1500mg. When I was at 2000 mg my stomach hated me. My doctor told me that based on research, 1500 was just as efficacious as 2000. I am also not the typical PCOS, since my BMI was normal (21ish or so) Good luck!!

I have PCOS and now 2 healthy, happy Metformin babies!  In fact, Metformin alone helped me get pregnant after quitting 2 years of infertility treatments!!!!!

I started Metformin in May and got a BFP in July. Unfortunately I MC’d at 5 weeks. Since then I’ve had no luck and am on my first Clomid cycle. My fertility specialist was unconvinced Metformin helps for PCOS but he said it wouldn’t be doing any harm. Knowing what I know now, I would have pushed for Clomid straight away.

For me, they concluded that the Clomid was actually hurting my chances.  Making the eggs “hostile.”  But I was probably the exception more than the norm.  But definitely something to consider.

But Met works wonders for me.  It helps my digestion, makes my cycles normal, and just makes me feel better overall.  And I know I never would have gotten pregnant without it because I didn’t ovulate without it!

I also had great success with Metformin. My periods were always irregular. I would skip months without periods and wasnt ovulating regularly, I started taking Met 2000 in October of last year and by December it has regulated my cycle to 30-35 days (still a little longer but in the healthy range) and I ovulate each month as we track with the OPK’s. We wont officially TTC until after the wedding but knowing my cycles are back under control makes me feel better. The meds are rough at first, but for me it didnt last too long and my body has adjusted to it. Good luck to you guys!

I have PCOS and insulin resistance issues. I TTC for 5 months or so when my periods were so irregular they finally disappeared. Started metformin in January, by March I had a solid 28 day cycle. Got my BFP May 13th. πŸ™‚ I am now 24 weeks, still on metformin through pregnancy. I was upped to 2000 MG a day after first month and it finally kicked my cycle in. I’m a huge believer in trusting and trying this method. I didn’t want to believe it would work but it did!

Lindsey2308 :  I’m confident it will work. I know it is hard to be patient and the side effects are terrible but so so so worth it. Are you on extended release? I can’t wait to check back and hear about your BFP too! πŸ™‚
