I think that’s a pretty song, but agree it could be seen as more focused on you.

I love the song Making Memories of Us by Keith Urban and think it would make a nice wedding song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQ-15YIvH5Y

I guess it depends on if your Fiance wants to use this song too.

One of my FI’s gripes with his last ex was that everything was about her; she used to say that she was right 95% of the time and he was right 5% of the time, and their “song” was something entitled, “She’s Everything”.

I used to listen to a lot of country, and one of the songs my Fiance wants to have played at our wedding (not necessarily as first dance) is “Keeper of the Stars” by Tracy Byrd.  We heard it at a wedding once and it reduced us both to sticky, icky goo.

We’re having a tough time finding a song for our first dance; I’m fine with an instrumental or a classic tango but he wants something that has meaning for us, and we just don’t have “our song” yet.  We have enough time to figure something out but I know how frustrating it is to find a song you love and yet is just not right.

I would seriously try to find something where the lyrics could apply to both of you, and not be focused on just the groom or the bride.  Try to think about the kind of relationship you genuinely want with each other, and what songs might reflect that.

To me, I think the first dance song should be about you as a couple. I absolutely ADORE Chuck Wicks and this is totally yours and FI’s decision, but if it were my first dance song (and it’s not) I would opt for something that describes us.

That being said, we’re using History in the Making by Darius Rucker. Yay for country music at weddings!

I was opposed to “one sided” songs too.  My friend danced to “She’s everything” and I thought it was a little weird…. but if you both really love it, go for it.

I say go for it!!!  As long as your fiance loves it too!!!  I adore country music.  And I really odn’t think its a big deal that it is one sided.

We are dancing to the King George Straight “Cross my heart”.  I know its over done.  But we just love it.  Actually my Fiance wanted our first dance to be “My last name” from Dierks Bentley or “Like Jesus does” Eric Church….but we are settled on “Cross my heart”….For now lol

Funnily our first song will probably be a country one but it is two sided.  I say keep the two sided songs since its about both of you and play that one later in the mix.

I got my SO to agree, at this point at least, to dance to “If I Didn’t Have You” by Thompson Square. I love the song in general, it isn’t super one-sided and I think all in all its perfect.
