- Wedding: January 2015
I have a few country songs I really like for our first dance. A new one that’s out is Lee Brice’s I Don’t Dance. It’s perfect for us because my Fiance is 39 (will be 40 at our wedding) and I am 25 (will be 27 at our wedding). He’s been in the military for 20 years, and has been all over the place, never settling down. His mom said to me that through all the years she just had a feeling someone was going to come along who’d rock his world and change it all. (and the fact that it’s me just makes me swell up with happiness) SO, the wording of that song is perfect for us.
But some blabbery radio DJ said “gonna be played at a lot of weddings this summer!” and it sort of spoiled it for me. I don’t want a first dance song that will be played at 4 weddings someone goes to before mine.
Another is Alison Krauss and Union Station’s When You Say Nothing At All. A cousin of mine played that for her first dance, and I sort of feel that I can’t play that one now either.
How do you ladies feel about using songs that are popular, or may have been another guest’s first dance song?
