Hey guys! Sorry this has taken me a while… but I’m going to give a little recap to my honeymoon in Ocho Rios Jamaica! We stayed at Couples Tower Isle! We flew out on Monday and back again on Saturday! We also had a Premier Ocean Room… which was awesome! For anyone needing pricing info; I’m not shy and I know Id ask if I needed to know so we spent about $3100 for our flights and the resort! Let me fill ya in on the whole resort and experience!
Flights: UGH well we flew out of StL and all of our flights were delayed! They actually werent long flights and I know most flights will fly into Charlotte then into Montego Bay. Its a pretty flight from the states to Jamaica…. you can see Cuba from the air! They lost our luggage coming back ugh! And Jamaica overbooked our flight back! Oh and info…. TRY TO EAT BEFORE THE AIRPORT IN JAMAICA!!!! We were STARVING and went to Dominoes…. which actually did taste like Dominoes thank God! However for two 8in pizzas, 3breadsticks and a soda was $28! Oh and MtDew & Snickers in Jamaica…. NO GO! They were disgusting! The Couples lounge at the Montego Bay airport was nice though!
Onto the resort…..
Resort overall—> Well Ocho Rios, where Tower Isle is located, is about an hour and 45minutes from the airport…. HOWEVER the van ride is NOT bad! It lets you see alot of Jamaica safely! I did sleep part of the way. Tower Isle is so awesome! Its beautiful when you pull up! The staff is SOOOO amazing! When we arrived THEY got all of our luggage out of the bus and put it together. While signing in we were given a cool towl that smelled so amazing… along with some really good drink! Then we were escorted to our rooms. After I changed from my flight clothes (sweats!) we went back down the elevator… and our bellhop guy was waiting on us to show us the restaurant that was open! *There is only 1 open on Mondays* The rooms were nice… simple but nice. we had a large balcony that overlooked the entire beach and the nude island! We DID NOT try to nude island but it looked really cool! The staff was amazing. If you are there more than 2 days you will get to know the staff by name and they’ll know you also! They are so sweet! Jamie at the front desk is so great! So is Kirk the bellhop! The gift shop charges everything to your room, but the prices are NOT that bad. They ARE expensive on clothes though. Everything is very private there also! You do NOT see any other beachfront at all from the resort. If you are going on your honeymoon DO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE MASSAGE!!! OH MY MY was it amazing!
FOOD!!!!! Let me tell you.. I am the MOSt picky person in the world. I do not eat any vegetables except corn and potatoes! But the food is so worth the money! Let me break down each restaurant for ya so you know what to expect! Every restaurant except bar grill offers Appatizers, Soup, Salad, Entree, & desert! From a menu! Menu’s change on Thurs night!
the Bar Grill— is the only restaurant open on Mondays… offers same food all week, easy great food. Has Jerk chicken that is SOOOOOOOOO good! burgers, chicken fingers, etc. Darling Husband ate their fried callamari at least twice a day everyday NO LIE! Its also open at 10am everyday until dinner, which its closed at dinner everyday except Monday. Then it reopens at 10pm everynight and stays open all njight.
The Patio Restaurant — has an all you can eat buffett for breakfast & lunch! Menu changes daily. Usually pretty good food. At dinner it is very casual, its like in a covered porch area that is so nice! Dinner has NO dress code and NO reservations, great food ESPECIALLY BBQ porchops!!!! I ate like 5 one night! haha
The Veranda Restaurant — located across from 8 Rivers Restaurant right off the lobby…. Looks VERY fancy, such a pretty restaurant. No reservations! Dress code is no just bathing suits. Food was so nice! I loved eating here! Its only open Tues-Sat night!
Bayside Restaurant– the little huts on the water! Does require reservations… I wore sundresses all week! LoL Reservations are simple, just call down and say I wanna eat at Bayside at 6, 645 or 7…. no big thing…. Asian food… Very good, especially as picky as I am! HOWEVER downside to bayside is you dont get a ton of food.
8 Rivers– VERY VERY VERY fancy!!! Requires reservation and men to wear pants & shoes… NOT SANDALS! TOTALLY TOTALLY worth dressing up! During dinner hours the resort is pretty dead because everyone is getting all cute to go eat together! its so neat! this is a ritzy restaurant and I had Never ate somewhere like this before! haha… I was terrified because I didnt think Id like a thing… 8 Rivers has AMAZING herb pepper butter for the rolls! TO DIE FOR! I want some just thinking about it! Food was sooo great! I had cornish hen… So yummy! and the Sorbet for desert… OH MY! Im serious this restaurant was so awesome!!!! In my album that I’m linking to this post are photos of the food we got at 8 Rivers!
Drinks— so great! LOL FREE!! any liquor you want! Pepsi & sprite offered…. Pepsi there actually taste like Pepsi… I thought their Pineapple juice was gross there but I LOVE pineapple juice and it was just different.
INCLUSIONS—> Ok compared to any other resort… CTI has the most amazing inclusions! Any watersport you want… including scuba! Yes the have a FREE resort dive class to certify you for a 30ft dive!!!!
Do the photoshoots… the Photo Shop offers 30min photoshoots where they take you around the grounds and take pics! OURS WERE AMAZING! I posted them in a previous post if youd like to go look! It was titles… Honeymoon Photo Shoot!
Things TO DO! that we did — Horseback riding tour… ($150 per person if you stay anywhere else! Free at CTI) so much fun! I had a blast! and Darling Husband did too! He hates animals too! LoL Dunns River Falls… GREAT FUN! Little Cold tho but so fun. DO NOT take cameras to the falls! WEAR WATER SHOES!!!!!!! they have them at WalMart for like $7. The falls takes about 2 hours. DO NOT BUY THE DVD the offer for more than $20… he wants to charge like 40… NO! We got ours for $20.
NOT TO DO! — Or that we didnt enjoy…. Glass bottom boat tour… it took FOREVER, all you could smell was the exhaust from the engine, there is NO leg room, its hot and the lifejackets DO NOT help! They take you to see a sunken ship… cool until they tell you that England sank it a few yrs back for a tourist attraction… NOT COOL! They said Catamaran was ok, but it was out forever! like 2 hours or more, and seems pretty wild.
Shopping– we went shopping when they went to Gem Palace…. Jewlery is nuts down there! DO NOT GO INTO THE FLEA MARKET!!!! Very scary! LoL Do not pay more than half of the asking price! You CAN totally name a price there. Watch out for ladies ontop of you wanting to braid your hair… also NOTHING is free… they want to give you necklaces and say Free then say oh I have 3 kids and I made those make my day!
Calls– IF you have to call back to the states… which we did because of my sick daughter. CALL FROM YOUR ROOM! calls are only $1 a minute! Charged to your credit card when you check out. they are $2.99 a minute from cell phones and there is little to no cell reception. Calling cards DONT work!
All in all this was the MOST amazing vacation! We actually even made friends that were married the same day as us that we hung out with a few days! It was so cool! I’m linking my Picasa site to this post so you can see the photos I took in Jamaica! I dont want to try to add them since there are like 60 of them! If you have ANY more questions let me know! My brain is running crazy! I think total after buying presents for 5 ppl at home and ourselfs, plus phone calls home (2 a day everyday) we spent like $300 extra while we were there. If you didnt call out or buy souvenires you dont need a penny!
* Darling Husband wants me to add that you CAN eat as many times a day as you want… LoL he DID HONESTLY eat 7 FULL meals one day! Fri night is Lobster night at every restaurant… they offer other things also… he ate 5 lobster tails! LoL He gained 12lbs on our honeymoon! Drinks are awesome too!
