(Closed) Couples who split household chores- how do you split them?

DancinDarlin :  DH and I try to split everything evenly. In terms of cooking, I will make most meals because I get home earlier than he does. It makes sense for me to start preparing dinner and have it ready when he gets home rather than waiting until six or six-thirty for him to get home to start. This is simply the difference of us eating between six and six-thirty or seven/seven-thirty. I, personally, do not want to eat that late. However, if I am cooking, DH will wash the dishes or load the dishwasher afterwards (although, I typically clean as I go). 

For household chores, it’s typically just a courtesy thing: if I am the last out of bed in the morning, I make the bed. If it’s him, he does it. I will typically load the laundry before I go to work and he’ll stick it in the dryer or turn it over when he gets home. On Saturdays and Sundays is when we do most of our cleaning and from there, it’s usually just split as to who wants to do what. I vacuum once a day just to keep the floors clean and he’ll do the cat litter. 

Nothing is “mine” or “his” specific duties, per se. I will pick up the slack when needed and so will he. We look at it as: This shit needs to get done, so let’s get it done.
