hayleyshaye :  I haven’t done this, but I have a friend who did. In her case, they had a courthouse wedding because she was pregnant. They chose a date on a Thursday because the same date the following year would be a Saturday (leap year). It was still wonderful and exciting because she and her husband still got to celebrate with all the people they cared about.

I had some friends do this because their offiant was a freind and not liscensed. They love having extra days to celebrate! They didn’t tell their families because they thought it would ruffle feathers but they have no regrets!

I haven’t done this, but I was thinking about it. I feel like I will be mad if I do it. I sat down and thought about what I really want in a wedding, and I am trying to be realistic about what I even feel like doing — as far as the work and stress. When I was younger, it would have been a no brainer to just have a wedding. Now, I’m like, Eloping ain’t so bad. But my mom is all NOOO!!!!

She’s probably right because, as I said, I know I’ll be mad. And I think I’ll feel like “what is the point” of a wedding later. There is none if you ask me. When I was younger, I had a bunch of friends because I am in a sorority, but as the years ticked by, my sorors got married, had kids, we grew apart because I swear I was the LAST single one of us. So I have a very quiet life without any friends, really. Same thing happened to my fiance with his friendships.

So I think i won’t be happy with an elopement, but a “micro” wedding might be in order. The problem I run across is finding vendors who will charge something reasonable for about 20 to 25 people. I do not want to do any of the work. I want an all inclusive, but most of those start at 50 pp in my area.

So that’s my issue with it. Hope that helps, even though I haven’t actually done anything yet.
