I am seriously stressing abut the food and beverage for the Court Yard on St. James. I heard the minimum ws 5,000 before tax and service charge. If this is so, it would put us 1500 over budget and I really don’t want to go the much over budget. Has anyone had a wedding there? Do you know know if they negotiate the food and beverage? How much does the minimun change on certain days and times? Any other suggestions for venues in the Houston area? Help!! Btw, I have only 80 guest and my wedding is next year.

@ryansrl: I don’t know what their prices are, but I think they’ll be at the wedding expo this weekend – they were there last year when I went. We had to negotiate on food and beverage prices with our rehearsal dinner venue (Americas Restaurant) and they agreed to let us order off the lunch menu instead of the dinner menu (meaning smaller portions) and when we met with them in person, they ended up agreeing to give us free non-alcoholic drinks. I got a lot of discounts with all of our vendors from meeting with them in person – so you should definitely set up an appointment with the coordinator at St. James Place!
If they aren’t willing to budge and their prices end up being just within your budget or a little over, you might want to check out other venues – unless your heart is sold on them. Two other great venues inside the loop for smaller weddings are the Heights Firehouse and the Nouveau Antique Art Bar.
Let me know if you need any other Houston-area recommendations!

Thank you so much. I will definately go do that. I’ve also been looking at The Gallery thank you for the suggestion at Art Noveau. It’s good to have a B and C if Ct. Yard on St. James doesn’t work out. 🙂
