Could you go for a meal with immediate family after the courthouse ceremony?

Follow up the ceremony with a family/friend get together/reception type thing.  You could have a small cake and punch with maybe a few “snacky” type foods.  You might be able to have it at your home or one of your parents homes.  You could also look into having it at a convention hall, Elk’s Lodge, places like that.

You could have a BBQ after with all of your close family & a small cake. 🙂

You can have a fun wedding celebration that costs next to nothing. My wedding was bare-bones and teeny tiny. We had it at a public park with a ceremony under the trees by the lake, then we had a picnic at a nearby picnic pavilion. It was great! We had a very meaningful ceremony that we wrote ourselves with personalized vows, and it was great to have our family there. We had the picnic catered, but you could also do a BBQ or sandwiches, or even a potluck. For us, all we really cared about was having our family witness our vows, be able to hang out with everyone, and not have anyone go hungry.

We are getting married at a courthouse.  It is a second wedding for both of us, and we both have large families, so it was either just us or 60+ people.  We are still dressing up, having flowers, a photographer, etc.  Then, we are having a picnic at a park shelter the next weekend for all of our family.
