My fiance and I are having a small courthouse ceremony with just our families. I’m not 100% set on wearing a white dress and have kinda had the idea of wearing a dress made out of my family’s tartan (my family is Scottish – I’m first generation American). I’ve found some dress ideas (keep in mind they’d have a different parttern)
Tartan dress would be made of:
Dress 1 (this would be all tartan):
Dress 2 (would have a tartan sash):
Thoughts are welcome…and encouraged. Thanks!

Tartan dress would be FIERCE! And a courthouse wedding is the perfect place to go non-traditional, imo.

I love everything about the first dress (the orange one), the shape is so chic.
I dont like the last one, where the belt would be tartan, I feel like it would be so clashy.

@hopefloats: I kinda feel the same way; I was drawn to it because it looked more ‘weddingy’.

oh it’s the first one hands down!!! love love love the shape and everything about it!!! that is one awesome little dress, there!!! i wouldn’t fall prey to the “weddingy” thing… that’s the beauty of a courthouse ceremony! you can be you and nontraditional all at the same time! 🙂

Omigosh, the first would be amazing but both would be beautiful! I can’t decide, I love the concept!

I’ve decided and have put a deposit down with a dressmaker to make this dress in my family’s tartan. I’m uber excited!
