Comments are being deleted now, but I really hope they are allowed to stay up, so everyone can see all the ignorant and disrespectful comments that were made, and not pretend that they were never said.  Merci beaucoup.

I can’t see page 18, anymore. 1, 2, 3, testing.

GreenBayBee:  Yup, so shameful.  I think it’s time this thread be closed, but all the people who said insulting and hurtful things shouldn’t be allowed the luxury of having their comments deleted.

Well this is quite sad. It got a little heavy at one point but no need to start deleting pages of comments. Maybe it is best if this thread is closed for good. Geez.

I am from Ontario and I know this “cover your plate” buisness very well. I dont like it, I am not rich, I work part time and I am a student with living expenses , my mom would stress me out over putting money in a card when we went to weddings or baptisms or whatever event we were going to. My SO doesnt like it either, we would rather put that money in our savings! If I am really close to the person I wont mind as much but I still dread it. My godmother who I love actually emails us and says DONT BRING MONEY/GIFTS to my event, I dont believe in that. Love her.

OK I didn’t read this entire thread, but I have to ask- how is a guest at a wedding supposed to know how much their plate even “costs”?  I don’t know the budget or guestlist for the weddings I attend, and you couldn’t even estimate before actually GOING to the wedding so how would you bring an appropriate monetary gift if you have NO IDEA how much the wedding cost?

Hi everyone! I’m not completely sure what’s going on, but I’m promise nothing is being deleted. If we’re having trouble seeing pages, the thread may be having a “ghost page” problem that happens sometimes, especially on longer threads. I will ping someone to help me look into it. I’m seeing a pretty big break above (21 hours ago to 27 minutes ago), so I will see if tech can help figure out what happened. For the time being, we’ll go ahead and close the thread so the problem doesn’t get worse, but feel free to start a “Part 2” thread if you want (which is common with long threads) to continue the discussion. Thanks!
