Hi ladies! I just wanted to know if anyone has had their tattoos covered up for their big day, and if so, what did the trick, successfully?
I have already tried Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs, and it did NOT work for me. I’m very light skinned (porcelain, really), and even the lightest shade is entirely too dark for me…not even close to being able to blend into my skin.
I’ve been doing some research and have read a lot about different types of coverage, but am skeptical. I’m not embarassed about my tattoos, but I think I would really like to have them covered for this big day.
Thanks for any help you’re able to give!!

@lb007: Have you tried Dermablend? It’s a PITA to use but it works. When I was a makeup artist I’d use it all the time when a client wanted to cover a tattoo, birthmark, and even vitaligo.

@lb007: I think my tattoos are a part of me, therefore I would never consider covering them up.
It really depends on how extensive they are. Do you have pics?

I do have some pics I will upload. I’m not ashamed of my tattoos, but they just aren’t in the vision I have of the perfect day. I’m finally going to get the wedding and the wedding dress I’ve always wanted, my dream come true, (yeah I know, yadda yadda, lol). I just don’t see them as part of that vision. 😉
I have 9 tattoos total, but am only concerned with covering up these two. They’re kinda, anti-girly/wedding, fairly large arm pieces.
What do you think, girls? Coverable?

@Aquaria: I have been researching some methods, such as Dermablend. I just wasn’t sure how well it really works. Like I said, I’m really fair skinned (which translates into I’m the whitest white), and the ones I want to cover are pretty dark and big. If I’m going to invest that kind of money for a product like Dermablend, I want to make sure it is actually going to work for me.

Now… personally I would never ever cover my tattoos, not if every single one of my 50 guests personally called me and begged me to, not in a million years. I got them for a reason, I paid for them in money and pain and time, and I’m very proud and excited to show them off on my wedding day.
But I’ve heard that for those who do really wanna cover up, Kat Von D’s tattoo concealer is serious business and I believe it comes in pale shades. Yours are very dark so I can see how it might be tricky, you may end up needing a pricier product like that or the dermablend one.

Misfits fan, eh? Nice tattoos! I have a few I am wanting covered for my big day too. I also am not ashamed of my tattoos, but very much like you, they dont fit my vision of the day. I am going to try out a brand called “Thin lizzy” (I think its only I Aus/NZ) and also I have a 2 tier veil for the day, so hopefully the tulle covering my arms/shoulders will help obscure any potential blending issues.
Would you consider getting a.spray tan to help get an easier colour match?

I’m a huge misfits fan! I got these in NYC in 2007 & 2008 and they are very much part of me,but no, they don’t fit in with my vision. I’m willing to try anything that will work. I’m going to check out the glamoflage. For sure. I would like to find someone who has used the dermablend and has dark tattoos like mine.
I read some reviews on Deborah about Kat Von D ‘s concealer, and it seemed like the consensus was it didn’t work as well on tattoos.
I haven’t heard of Thin Lizzy….
