I assume for privacy concerns.

I have a few blotted because my husband doesn’t want an online persona and neither does my best friend, so out of respect for their decisions (though he had to give me a few).  I think I blotted my own face in one, way back, then realized I couldn’t be bothered anymore.  The expression is often everything, but privacy can be more, depending on who you are.

BEEelegant :  It’s privacy. Also, remember, that people aren’t just coming here to post a couple pictures, they post about other things and perhaps they would like to remain anonymous. Once their face is attached to their username, they lose all anonymity. I can think of a couple bees in particular that were basically outed after posting their photo.

I try not to post pictures with my face just for privacy reasons (other than my avatar, lol) but I do have one posted somewhere here that’s me and my Fiance right when we got engaged and I didn’t hide my face because I agree that the emotion is more visible 🙂

I recently posted pics of my friend in her dress, and even though she’s now married I thought it was appropriate to hide her face for her privacy 🙂

I think others hide their faces in dress pics to keep deniability if their Fiance finds the pictures 😉

I’m a teacher and don’t want my students knowing this much about my personal life. If they were to somehow find my picture and then read about the things I have posted…

I feel with anonymity I am free to express the troubles I’m going through without fear.

BEEelegant :  I’ve always assumed it was 1 of 2 things. Either they don’t want to show their face for privacy reasons, or they’re not made up for the day/took a bad picture and don’t want the world to see them like that lol. I sort of get the privacy thing, but then again if I came across someone on here that I knew IRL, I’d probably recognize who it was if it was a full body shot.

Well, also because the arc of some of these boards and people’s past posts are incredibly private. I would be MORTIFIED if someone figured out who my account belonged to because I post personal things thinking my identity is anonymous. So if you post a photo of yourself it’s pretty easy to Google backsearch it. I’m not creepy, it’s a THING. Anyone can Google backsearch an image to the original source and figure out a first and last name and then see hundreds of personal posts about your relationship.

I would do it for privacy reasons, I vent a lot on here and wouldn’t be very thrilled if someone I knew IRL discovered this was my account.
