@Legallyblondiebride:  ick! i have to admit though, i DID have a similar issue last winter with just a dry, persistent cough! maybe suggest she get a humidifier for her cubicle as a friendly-i’m-concerned-about-your-wellbeing-and-not-about-your-infectious-phlegm type of way? :p it fixed me up, so it certainly couldn’t hurt!

If she has had a cough for 3 months, has seen her doctor, and he has told her she is not contagious, what else would you have her do? She has to make a living too.

Perhaps she has asthma? That could be the cause of her cough. Asthma is not contagious.

Even if it’s not contagious she should still be covering her mouth – gross!

I’ve developed some kind of allergy that makes me cough productively for like half an hour after eating really spicy things … I had to stop putting jalapenos on my salads at work so I wouldn’t be that annoying person hacking up a lung after lunch every day Frown  Because yes, listening to someone cough and cough and cough is pretty annoying!

She should definitely be covering her mouth, but could you possibly imagine how irritating this must be for HER?  SHE is the one who probably has a sore throat from coughing, as well as sore ribs or abs too 🙁  She probably doesn’t feel all that well either.  But yes, cover your cough regardless of the cause.

Not covering her mouth? Coughing and hacking all over the office equipment? Doesn’t matter what the doctor says, it’s unsanitary and she has to get a hold of the cause and try to solve the issue. If not, cover your mouth, or cough in your own sleeve.

I don’t have a cold but if I cough, some spit does come out, and lands on whatever… so that’s disgusting, especially if she does it on every piece on office equipment used by others.

yuck, that IS really annoying!

I had a neighbor who developed a cough bad enough I could hear it through the walls. I felt bad about being annoyed by it, but I totally was!

@Legallyblondiebride:  OMG! I have a hacker at my job too! although she has been doing it since she started (9 months ago!!). Its literally every day although some are worse than others. She is loud anyway and her coughs are extreme. She is hacking like she has something seriously wrong with her but she says “its the air in here”. um, I am pretty sure its the 40 years of chain smoking….

Eww, I had the same problem with someone last year. She said the same thing about not covering her mouth. “It’s just smoker’s cough” Oh well in that case, it’s still just as disgusting and rude to cough all over everything…

Our building tends to work up people’s allergies and we have a guy who sneezes and blows his nose like a horn whenever the air comes on. Certain co-workers started to clap once loudly when he did this until they were told to stop. His horn blowing even caused one guy to fall out of his chair because he startled. We also have a lady that hacks every now and then again too.
