So my Fiance and I are having a steampunk and comic book themed wedding next Halloween. We bought our centerpieces second hand from a bride a few months ago and they are gorgeous, but my Fiance doesn’t think they are steampunk enough. Here they are:
I found this picture on Pinterest and wondered if it would be possible to recreate. Can I just get lace and hot glue it to the vases? Do I need to use some sort of metal. I don’t want to change the vases into the candlestick things, just add the enhancements:
Is there a way I can do this? Or should I just go a different route?
Edit: The wreaths around the vases won’t be red silk flowers, they will be a purple stock from our florist, this was just for us to get an idea of how it would look. If that makes a difference.

I think black lace would work but for a really steam punk look you could try to find some metal ‘lace’. Try arts and crafts stores, I imagine it’s something you would find in scrapbooking sections but I’m not really sure.

Yes, you can use a spray adhesive on the lace and adhere it to the glass. I do agree the original is not very steam-punkish. If you have a steady hand you could also draw on a design with an oil based paint marker.

You could use washi tape! It comes in all different styles. I found this one on Etsy:

I think you could definitely get a similar effect with the right lace! It would be hard to find metal like that though so I’d say lace for sure. 🙂

Thanks everyone! Is adding just that going to be enough or should I find something else to add?
