MissComicBook:  I think black lace would work but for a really steam punk look you could try to find some metal ‘lace’. Try arts and crafts stores, I imagine it’s something you would find in scrapbooking sections but I’m not really sure.

I might try using modpoge to adhere the lace to the glass that way it dries clear. There is a tutorial here:

Yes, you can use a spray adhesive on the lace and adhere it to the glass. I do agree the original is not very steam-punkish. If you have a steady hand you could also draw on a design with an oil based paint marker.

I think you could definitely get a similar effect with the right lace! It would be hard to find metal like that though so I’d say lace for sure. 🙂
