If you find someone on CL, check to see if they’re also on weddingwire.com- the reviews I’ve found there were pretty accurate.

Our DJ is the one vendor I would redo, if we could go back. Any recently married friends, whom you can get referrals from?

I would be very careful about the vendors on craigslist.  I met with a photographer who we found on there & they turned out to be a scam.  I was about to give them a deposit when my mom found out they were stealing other peoples photographs…

Since you are looking for a DJ, I would ask to see them at an event.  Also, make sure you know exactly which DJ you will have… some of the bigger companies have tons of DJ’s so you don’t know who will show up at your wedding.  Also, I def agree with checking weddingwire

I found my photographer on Craigslist! She is branching into a new region and was using Craigslist so we actually got a discount because that’s how we found her. We checked her out and she’s a real pro and all that. We met with her and really liked her and made a deposit and have no worries. I would definatley do some checking online and meet with them. If things seem fishy then bail, but it they seem on the up-and-up you can get some great deals!
