I don’t have any pictures but we got our dining room table from craigslist a bunch of other little decorative items. I love buying old items and then redoing them!

@BreezyBride24:  We have Kijiji in Canada, which is basically the same thing but more people use it up here over Craigslist. I’ve bought a few things from there in the past, but not too many. I’ve sold more on there than I’ve bought, for sure… but there are a few neat things.

I’ve bought a futon and a dresser.

I’ve sold a sectional, armchair, barstools, and looking to sell another sectional, 2 bed frames, and some art from my house because we are moving.

I probably wouldn’t ever buy a mattress and a couch is debatable just because you don’t know what’s been on it!

I LOVE craigslist.  We have a bunch of stuff in our house from there…  Really nice matching couch set, a great bed frame with built-in drawers, and a nice glass/wicker table and chair set.

I sure did! I don’t have any pictures, but I actually found the perfect lamps for our master bedroom from Craigslist. Also I recently bought a mirror that I made into a chalkboard & added wooden accents to make it look like a pub chalkboard sign for our gameroom.

I would buy hard surface items from CL. In fact, I am currently stalking CL for a round front corner china cabinet and a church pew for our foyer. But I won’t buy any soft surface itens (upholstered chairs, rugs, etc.) because the idea of accidentally bringing fleas, bed bugs, or other creepy crawlies into my house gives me the heebie jeebies.

Almost my entire home is filled with Craigslist and Garage Sale items! Faux-leather couch, tables, chairs, dresser, bed frame, rugs, paintings, kitchen items, camping items, electronics. Pretty much anything that can be cleaned thoroughly! If you’re in an area that has a lot of bedbugs, I wouldn’t buy a couch or rug.

When I moved to a new city, I spent the first 2 weeks just picking up items from Craigslist—it was a great way to get to know my way around! Also, I learned which areas were more affluent, and therefore had nicer secondhand items =)

Couch ($100), rugs ($100 each), table + chairs ($50), side chair ($60), coffeetable ($70), side table and lamp ($40) all from Craigslist.

Here are tips for spotting items that may contain bed bugs before they enter your home:

Here’s a cool table I got a thrift store for $90. It is topped with marble and was made in 1860. It had casters, but I removed them. I know it isn’t from CL but it was still a great price. The chairs flanking it were purchased from kmart for $100 each.

@lovekiss:  I’m with you. I’m too much of a germaphobe to buy upholstered items used but any kinds of tables, shelving, etc would be great!

I’ve bought pretty much all of our furniture on craigslist and I’m constantly getting compliments on all of it.

It’s definitely the way to go.
