beautyofdreams:  In MA we have online “yardsale” but i have seen all sorts of wedding decor on them, there are also online wedding resale sites on FB so maybe try that too. I know a number of people who used and had great luck with things. Good luck

I did all my decor from thrift stores, Craigs list, and hobby lobby’s 90% off Sale. I did a hodge podge of large candlesticks in glass, silver and blacks. It looked fantastic all together, so I’m told. I’ll try to find a link to a thread where I posted all the stuff I had. I lost my pictures when wb took down the photos area.

I bought my dress, lengths of tulle, 60 dinner plates, 6 large umbrellas, two easels for my seating charts, and my table number frames used from our local version of craigslist. I liked saving money, and I loved not buying a bunch of crap that I would only use once and then throw away (yay for recycling!). I also bought gladd pitchers from thrift stores.

I have since turned around and sold some of this stuff (and still selling). My friend who is getting married in October is also using a bunch of stuff .

We are using vintage bottles and milk glass (and floral vases bc they are cheap and have some neat ones and the white still fits the feeling).

Almost everything has been thrift stores/garage sales/antique stores!

We haven’t done a mockup yet (though I need to)

Milk glass

I have a ton of doilies to do something like this on the tables under the bottles

Great for center pieces for a rustic reception

and we have been getting tons of lace to do this to the ugly chairs

beautyofdreams:  I bought a bunch of baskets at the SPCA Thrift Store in town – we used them for all sorts of things. My Mother-In-Law found ~130 bud vases and painted about 70% of them. She used 7 colors of paint. We used 7 vases per table (usually 2 clear and 5 of mixed colors).

Yes, I did get lots of stuff from Craigslist & thrift stores:

Wedding dress – Craigslist $600 including veil

Glass vases – thrift store $1.50 each

Cake Stand – $20 2nd hand via former bride

Table Runners (all tables) – DYI bought material on clearance from fabric store for $30

Silk Flowers (all tables) – Michael’s 50% off

Decorative Stone for vases (all tables) – Michael’s 50% off

60 Wine Labels – puchased from Vistaprint.com $45  (we wanted to make them at home but our printer is inexpensive and not good enough for quality labels)

DYI Hearts used for aisle – thrift store.  $5 for bag of “fancy craft paper”

White paper wedding bells- dollar store.  $7 (no pic)

10 large blue bows – Michael’s clearance $20 (no pic)

I know some of this isn’t thrift store/Craigslist but you can make a venue look great without spending a ton of money.  I spoke with my caterer after the wedding.  He told me that he had done other weddings at our venue and thought our was the best decorated.  It’s not what you spend it’s how you use what you have!

I would get an idea of what you want first.  Know your prices.  I’ve gotten good deals, but sometimes I can find new for less.  Did you find your venue yet?
