Not sure what area you live in, but if you don’t have insurance and are going to Planned Parenthood, request that you have an appointment for a pelvic exam, infection check or that you’re having pain. Chances are if you request an appointment for a pap or “Annual Exam” and you have already had one in this past year, you won’t be able to have an appointment that is lower in cost or paying nothing out of pocket (not sure if your state has special funding programs).

My first thought was ovulation (like you mentioned). Do you think it might be something related to digestion?

I am on a similar boat..

I dont generaly have cramps during my period .. except for the first day and I usually get an extremely bad cramp a few days before my period that last about 5 minutes long. However.. inbetween periods I often feel sharp cramps here and there.. I would say I generally feel them on one side.. However they can be anywhere from my waist line all the way to the urethra..

I have had normal papsmears.. except for 3 that came back with HPV .. however I had a colposcopy and everything came back fine.. the papsmear after that also came back normal.

I dont have an appointment to see my doctor until February of next year.. so we will see!

I’m going to guess you haven’t had an ultrasound to check for ovarian cysts?  When I had the first one, my Dr. wasn’t sure and sent me for an ultrasound.  It revealed that I had one that had just ruptured on one ovary and another one that was small and (according to Dr.) ready to burst right behind it.  I’ve had a few here and there throughout the years and when they rupture, it feels like cramping.

Will PP do an US?  Because, if it’s just a pelvic, they might not be able to give you any answers.

What side is it on?  Could it be the start of appendicitis?  Sometimes, it comes about slowly and not a rapid thing.

If it’s actually a muscle cramp (like you get with your period) then you should try taking the maximum dosage of Aleve/naproxen sodium, it’s 3 pills of the OTC stuff.  It might help you in the short term til you see a gyno.  If I were you, I’d definitely scrounge up the $ to go see a doctor, try to get off the pills you’re on and onto something else since the high dose hormones may be causing damage, and get checked for cysts.  I checked “mildly worried” because I wouldn’t be rushing to the ER, but I’d definitely go see the gyno if I were you.

You’re a student, yes?  Don’t you have a campus clinic you can use?
