I went to Hobby Lobby and got some platters to give.  Doesn’t have to be anything big!

My co-hostesses were ladies of a certain age, so the usual bath stuff and other cute things were out. Instead, I went the gourmet chocolate route — I think I spent $50 on each gift. I also wrote each of them a heartfelt, personal note of appreciation (on engraved stationary) and presented each gift to them with a brief thank-you speech at the end of the shower itself.

It’s all about knowing your recipient, and tailoring the gift to suit her personality.

My Maid/Matron of Honor was the hostess of my shower and has been my best friend since we were 8.  When we were growing up she was OBSESSED with Dawson’s Creek so I got her the series on box set.  She loved it and appreciated that I put some thought into something that was a shared childhood memory.

I put a “goody” bag together for them. It had a cookbook (one was chocolate recipes, and one was salad/vegetable recipes, for those who we knew wouldn’t want a dessert recipe book…which I don’t get, but we do have some health nut friends who never eat sugar), a really cute set of heart-shaped measuring spoons and a hand-written thank you note for the shower (I sent seperate notes for the gifts the hostesses gave me, of course). Its just something nice (doesnt have to be big) to awknowledge all the hardwork that went into planning the shower!
