Can you postpone the honeymoon for now? I imagine that’s tough to do in the military and I know it would be kind of disappointing, but it would probably be the easiest way to cut a large chunk of your budget. And I’d look at anywhere you guys can make cuts in your spending habits – you need to save like $600 a month to get that $600. Can you make cuts to your cable/internet/phone bill? Give up some of your luxuries till then, like morning Starbuck runs, nail/hair appointments, etc? If you don’t have a job, getting a part time one, even just like a basic retail one, would easily get you the money you need in that time frame.

@Wonderstruck:  I don’t think it was her DH’s decision to live off base, so there isn’t an issue with him spending money they don’t have.

@leecy87:  +1 I do actually agree with this. I know some people don’t, but this is what I would do in that situation. Especially as everything has got deposits paid on!

@Miss Jackrabbit:  Ahh, you’re right – I totally misread the sponsor part, I somehow read it as her Fiance had decided that he wanted to live off base and get a car and such. I went back and edited my post, thanks.

@Wonderstruck:  Ha, I did double take at first!! I don’t know what an army sponsor is, but it was my best guess! 🙂

I’m in a similar boat as you — we have roughly $3,000 left to save between now and our wedding in October.  I therefore picked up a second part-time job for nights/weekends at Starbucks after my day job… which will allow us to save the remaining amount that we need.  Sucks working 60-70 hours a week, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
