- Wedding: September 2013
I am in need of a good laugh and was wondering if anyone had some crazy Maid/Matron of Honor stories to share. This past week has been very emotional for me as I have just kicked my Maid/Matron of Honor out of our wedding.
Sorry this post is so long
The plan for the weekend was for my Maid/Matron of Honor to come into town to help me with planning…well that didn’t end up happening. The first night she arrived we decided to go out to get drinks/dinner/catch up.So before we went out she and my fiance exchanged numbers in case my phone died (My Droid charge sucks) so that he would know when to pick us up.So we go out and grab some drinks…I think we were having a great time but I was wrong. She gets entirely too drunk and the whole time she is texting my fiance (I didn’t know this until he picked us up) pretending to be me (creepy). Then she called him and told him that I was “incoherent” and that he needed to pick us up.So my fiance who was very worried about me came to pick us up…then all hell broke loose.
After realizing that my Maid/Matron of Honor was pretending to be me and clearly saw that I was not “incoherent” my fiance confronted her about lying. My fiance is naturally a very calm person and laid back but he was very angry/ confused as to why she would lie to him.Anyways on the drive home my Maid/Matron of Honor started crying and screaming at my fiance (and I mean exorcist screaming) saying things like “You only care about her and not me.You don’t care about my feelings” Calling him an a$$hole etc. saying extremely rude and uncalled for things..saying she didn’t want to be in our wedding because he is rude(mind you she met him 2 hours before). The screaming continued for the duration of the 20 minute ride home and she was so hysterical I was actually afraid she was going to hit my fiance while he was driving.
So the next morning when she had sobered up I asked to talk to her about what had happend. She had no explanation for me and said if I wanted her to apologize she would but that he was very rude to her.She continued to argue with me and deny that what she did was wrong …so at that point I conference called with my sister (Matron of Honor) and my parents about the situation. After talking to them and with my fiance I told her that this was not going to work out and asked her to leave.I still can’t believe this actually happend and that I lost my best friend from college. However, I am glad about the decision I made because I would have been so upset if this had taken place on our wedding day. I know she recently got out of a 3 year relationship but I still don’t think her behavior towards my fiance was okay. After all, he went out of a his way to drop us off and pick us up in the middle of his busy season (he is an accountant for one of the big four firms)so he was stressed enough.Do you all think I made the right decision?
