Keep reporting them to both the cops and the apartment complex. They can’t do anything until they get a certain number of complaints. Keep files and track of everything!! OMG this sooo sounds like our next door neighbors to where we even had to take it to the City Manager with copies of all the police and sheriff reports and copies of emails and phone calls made before they did something. Record video of them if you have to.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. Is there any way to get a restraining order against them from coming up the stairs and banging and kicking as well?

I agree with the PP says plus I’d add in to tape (audio and/or visual) these outbursts as proof as well. just more evidence to use against them. I’d also talk to your Residential Tenancies Branch in your area about your rights and what you should/shouldn’t do

Oh my! What a scary situation. As the PP said, keep reporting him!!

Two years ago, I lived on my own in a duplex and the couple below me argued all the time. He was really mean and abusive towards her (I called the cops on him over that) and I could hear everything.

One time, he got SO damn drunk and started banging on my door screaming to put the kid to sleep (I lived alone). So I called the cops and this dumb ass opened the door with a gun pointing at them. He went to jail for a while and I was so scared he would try to hurt me but he apologized and never harassed me again. However, I moved out 4 months later.

You just never know with people like that so be very cautious.

record every crazy thing they do on your cell, and call the cops right away. Say you want to press charges, too. I have no idea why the cops didn’t do anything when a man was threatening you and trying to break down your door.

if you have any pets, dont let them outside unsupervised… these guys sound like a pair of rabbit boilers for sure.

misswluu:  Document everything in a notebook. Dates, times, incidents. I’m so sorry you are dealing with this.

misswluu:  Tell them you want to file a report, keep copies of them and file a restraining order against him. Ask your building manager for their supervisors name and/or owners name. Since they will not do anything, you will take it over thier heads. DO NOT GIVE UP! Persistance and consistancy is KEY here. Document everything. It may take awhile but keep doing it. It IS a pain in the butt to do but you have to in order to get anything resolved. It totally sucks in the meantime. ((big hug))

misswluu:  Geeze, what is wrong with people?  I’m sorry you don’t’ feel secure in your own backyard.  I agree with the other posters- document, document, document.  This includes video- hard to dispute, time stamped documentation of the incident if you’re not able to record electronically.  Keep notebooks and pens handy so you do not miss a moment.

You also should document your complaints and the actions (inactions) of your building manager.

Please be discrete as possible for your safety.

misswluu:  I’m so glad you went over their head! This sounds so scary! How can they ignore your complaints? Those tenants can threaten you and try to beat down your door in the middle of the night but you can’t walk too much? WTF is that? Good for you for getting things done!

Is there anything in your lease regarding noise or a right to peace and quiet?
