Try a warm bath- the water may cause the tampon to absorb more liquid and become heavier and the water weight (in a sitting or standing position) may cause a higher up tampon to come down enough to reach. If this works, you can drain the water and have a shower to feel fresh. But agree with others about TSS- if you can’t get it out by the time your husband comes home, please go to a cliinic or ER even if you feel embarrassed.

fwiw, I was at the doctor last month getting my IUD removed and the doc said women come in all the time with tampons stuck.

he also said that he sees a lot of women who think they have a tampon stuck, but they don’t.

no biggie–def go see the doc and get it straightened out!

Agree, get in a good squat and feel around.

One time, when I was either extremely tired or drugged up on cold medicine (not sure which) I inserted one, got ready, apparently forgot that I had inserted it and put another one up there and didn’t figure out that I had 2 tampons in until a few hours later when removing. I was very confused. It was like when you crack and egg and find two yolks for the first time.

I work at a doctor’s office and this is more common than you would think.  If you cannot remove it, a healthcare provider can.  No need to feel embarrassed 🙂

I second the warm bath. It may help you relax. While you’re in the bath squat and bear down like you’re having a baby, maybe then you or your husband will be able to reach it…I don’t know, this hasn’t happened to me, but I hope you can get it out without a trip to the ER.

If you do have to go to the ER though, don’t be embarassed. They have people come in with all kinds of things stuck in places, I have a friend who is an ER nurse send me a picture of an X-ray that showed a softball in a man’s bum. A lost tampon is probably pretty tame comparatively.

Yes, what  most people  said . Far,  far better to get a healthcare professional to do  it than  your husband (unless he is is one of course) .

Girl this happened to me when I was 20. It was up there for almost a WEEK (ok, maybe 4-5 days)! when i originally couldn’t find it I thought maybe I hadn’t put one in… Until things started to *ahem* smell weird. Called OB’s, went to the first one I could get in at. One of the most embarrassing moments of my life, it smelled so bad (sorry for the tmi but this is what happened). I say relax and check out your OB tomorrow. It happens to the best of us. The OB I saw told me she sees it a couple times a week. So not unusual, but not the best experience ever.

stefano101:   Definitely agree with Claudia, try bearing down like you’re having a kid or pooping.  Don’t wait too long with it in, it’s not good for you at all.

stefano101:  Yes, this has happeend to me, and my SO at the time was able to get it out. When I was telling one of my close GFs about the trauma of it all, she mentioned that it had happend to her *twice* and once she didn’t realize until she started getting very strange discharge several weeks later.  If you want more information on either case, just message me.  But, seriously, don’t worry, you’re not alone! See what your Darling Husband can do when he gets home and if you DO have to go to the ER, trust me, they have seen it ALL, don’t worry. It’s a tampon and not something else that’s usually not even close to that area of the body!
