I just googled it and boy I don’t think I could do that.  If I don’t get enough protein, I get so hungry and don’t feel well!

@o0olibelulao0o: I have no idea what that book/diet is, but I’m a vegetarian and I agree with you completley – people in America wildly overestimate how much protein they need to stay strong and healthy. I get my daily requirement and more from beans, tofu, whole grains, eggs, and milk. (And you don’t need the eggs and milk – vegans can get plenty of protein.)  Vegetarians need to be more careful about making sure they get enough calcium, iron, and b-vitamins. Protein isn’t the problem.

This is an anecdote and proves nothing, but I remember being shocked to find out that this guy I’d recently met, who was a 6’3″ farm boy and built like a basketball player, was vegetarian.  He said after growing up on a farm he just couldn’t eat the animals.  But it definitely disproved the idea that men need meat to have muscles.  This guy was built, lol.

@o0olibelulao0o: can you give me a quick synopsis on what the diet entails?

@mightywombat: I know this is an old thread… but I just had to say AMEN.

People do not realize that BEANS have more protein then meat does… plus it has loads of fiber (no one is getting enough) and meat is SO high in chlorestrol!  Beans keep me fuller 10x longer than meat ever did.  And I don’t ever get that “I can’t move I’m so full feeling”. I love it, when your a veggie and the first thing people always say.. how do you get your protein?!  If they did their research they would see the facts. We are so consumed with meat being shoved in our face at breakfast, lunch and dinner…. there are plenty of meals that don’t need meat… but everything is meat based which is a shame because there are so many other amazing foods out there that are meatless.

I did this plan, and I was vegetarian for a number of months, vegan even…I wholeheartedly endorse a vegan lifestyle…but not for me.  As a result of being on this plan, I developed such chronic silent acid reflux that I can now no longer eat any spices, non-green vegetables, proteins that are not dry chicken or steamed fish, and dry bread, with nearly no fat…unless I want to spend large portions of my life on Nexiuum and other charming drugs.

I’m just putting in the 2 cents of a devils’ advocate- I did this and it really messed up my digestive system…and before people jump all over me, YES, I stuck to this 100%.
