One of my best friends was married a few years ago and I hosted her shower. Since I paid for the whole thing myself, buying some extravagant shower gift just wasn’t going to happen. What I ended up doing was gifting her with 3 gift bags full of goodies…
The first one was labeled “First Comes Love” and included a nice picture frame with a picture of her and her (now) hubby when they were dating, 2 tickets to a hockey game (their first date was a hockey game) & some KY Yours and Mine (this was more of a joke since my friend kept saying how she wanted to try it).
Next was “Then Comes Marriage”. This bag had some sexy lingerie, a wedding day survival kit (lots of travel size stuff packaged in a cute little tool box that I decorated), a gift certificate to the nail salon, a cute “Do Not Disturb” sign, a bottle of decent champagne, 2 champagne flutes and a wedding related picture frame.
Last was “And Then Reality Set In” (this was my favorite). This bag had some flannel PJ’s, granny panties (that we’re comically large), rubber gloves, some cleaning supplies and a huge bottle of extra strength Tylenol.
It was a HUGE hit and she absolutely loved it. Obviously this isn’t a gift that you would give just anyone (it would have to be a close friend or family member) but I thought it was really creative. The whole thing ended up costing me around $75 but it could be done for less.
Has anyone else gifted or received any creative bridal shower gifts?

@UpstateCait:What an awesome idea! You’re so clever. The best I came up with was for my best friend in college. She and her hubby were going to South Africa on their honeymoon, so I bought stuff for the flight: eye masks, pillows, and blankets for the two of them, as well as a travel memoir of Safari in Africa. The bride loved it b/c it was out of the norm.

@UpstateCait: Your gift sounds like so much fun! I have gifts on registry, but honestly a gift like this would be soooo much better because there is thought put into it.

Thanks guys. My bridesmaids are some of the least creative people I’ve ever met so I’m not going to hold my breath for anything unique. That’s okay though!

@UpstateCait: Mine are too. So I am right with you there! But I love that idea. It is so cute!

When I started reading, I thought, wow that sounds expensive (hockey game, lingerie, champagne). Then I saw that you pulled this off for $75! Kudos! Can we go shopping together some time? LOL!
This sounds like a truly awesome gift! I would be thrilled if I got something like this.

haha, i did something similar. i happened across an adult sized pair of footed pajamas and got that along with a scented candle and an eye mask for my friend for those nights when you just didn’t want to. lol. she loved it and actually uses the pjs for when they go camping!
