Unless you are applying for a job in finance or with the federal/state government, you’re credit report should not be an issue. If an employer pulls your credit report, you will be notified prior to the event.

There isn’t anything to really help it increase except charge a little to your credit cards and pay it off each month.  That is all that can help your score increase.

Credit cards and paying on time. I use mine for groceries and gasoline for the car, and I pay for it all when I get home so I never have a late fee or interest on it.

Most jobs will do a background check, but this isn’t about your financial credit. Its about have you been to jail, gotten a felony, etc. Things like that. I’ve never ever had my credit checked for jobs, but I’ve had a lot of background checks just for applying (mostly places working with kids). A few places even took my fingerprints but that was working for kids with the state.

As far as getting your credit score back on track… you need to make your payments on time. Don’t max out your cards. Keep using your cards & paying them off at the end of the month. Don’t just cancel all your accounts, as that can actually hurt your credit score.
